OT - Just my luck, once again | Arthritis Information

If you can believe it, I have had to file six worker comps claims in my work lifetime, and I am in clerical jobs.  Luckily, I always had a witness.  But the worst one was the one that herniated my neck, tore my muscle, subluxated my mid back, and ripped the cartiledge on my right rib cage (me slamming an illegal door straight into a wheelchair with a 300 lbs. man on the other side did not agree)

So a few years after that, I was opening up a kitchen cabinet in the lunchroom, and we had stored these boxes on top of the cabinet, and we all kept pushing then back as the door would scrape against the bottom of the boxes pulling them forward, and yep it fell off and landed with one of it points right on the top of my skull on the right side, plus I was surrounded by a cascade of colorful beer coosies.  Got checked out as I was concerned about my bad neck and immediately saw stars and got a headache.  The WC doctor put me on pain pills and three days off, but went back to work the next day and asked that the case be closed.  Three weeks later I bent over my desk to write something and a big chunk of my scalp and hair fell off (TMI) but LOL

So, of course, Wednesday (while I am in this great maybe remission like freedom from pain and stiffness), I opened a file drawer and the stuff on top came tumbling down, and a heavy box of file folders hit me with I would assume the point right between my eyes and my glasses went flying.  Luckily the accounting manager was right there in his office.

I thought I had broken my nose and I felt something gush, so I cupped my hands over my face and ran to the bathroom, but nothing luckily.  It cleaned my clock for a couple of hours though, I was rummy.  Started a bad headache - big sighs here.

Since then, for the first time in a long time my old inflammation spots above my eyes and under my cheeks have puffed up, yesterday my eyes were like slits when I got up, plus my old cold right hand from the bad accident has started in again, but I think it won't hold.

I have also been in 16 car accidents - three major with injuries and the car totalled, about 9 semi-serious, and the rest minor stupid scrapes and fender benders.  I was either the passenger of a car that was not at fault or was not at fault if I was driving.  Well, we won't count the time I hit black ice coming down a hillside in Alaska and rolled the Jeep once and ended up on all four wheels and facing back up the hill.  I put it into four wheel drive and drove home.  I only "broke" the thigh muscle against the door handle.  Was told to watch it as an injury like this could turn cancerous someday, so that was a new thing to learn.

Last week I starting going, wow, I haven't been in a car crash since getting rear-ended three days after I moved to Florida 9 years ago, and my girlfriend was driving, or had a work comp recently.  Maybe there is some truth that you can think up things and manifest them to happen.

I am going back to bed, I have a headache :(
Ugh...that totally sucks, JSNM. I hate injury! (Well, who doesn't? That's like saying "I'm fun loving. Who doesn't love fun?)

But people with RA always take a little longer to recover. Maybe it's not that bad and you're just taking a bit longer to recover? Here's hoping...Hoping for a speedy recovery.Wow Cathy, that's terrible.  And BTW, remind me never to stand next to you or get in the car with you!  Just kidding.

But that was a horrible blow you took.  If this happened Wednesday and you're still feeling those old symptoms around, I'd say get yourself back to the doctor tomorrow to get it checked out.
I am sorry to hear that JSNM. I hope you feel better soon.

Much hugs to you!

Ouch!  Makes my face hurt just reading about it.  Hope you get feel better soon.  I am so sorry for all your injuries! It sounds like it's time to wrap you in head to toe bubble wrap!

I was in a serious car accident about a month ago and my doctors said I was so fragile to begin with, that it could take many months to years of treatment to get me back where I was before the accident. Ugh~
Hope you feel better soon!
