Just wanted to ask what blood type most of you are that have  RA ?

 I'm A+
I am also A positive.  That's two of us. ????

O+ for me...

I am O+.  why?  do you think our blood type has something to do with it? please share your thoughts.I've been reading the book eat right for your blood type, just wondering about diet.Thought maybe some of you might know something about it.
                                                                                    thanks
A+0+A+B+Oh just curious.  You know I have that book too.  I went through a period where I was buying everything on arthritis.  a lot of them say lose weight.  I was already slender, still am.  However, being O+, I am supposed to have a lot of protein according to the eat right for your type, if I remember correctly.  Recently I have been told by my cardiologist to eat more protein and drink Boost drink. I am sure Ensure or any of the protein drink will work the same. I guess Boost is his favorite.  I have tasted them both and they taste the same.  However, it makes me believe that maybe there is some truth to the book.  Even so, I have always felt diet plays a part in being healthy just as if you had diabetes you would limit your sugar intake along with low salt, low cholesterol diet, etc.  Well, I think it is the same for any disease.  the question is how big of a part does diet play.  staying active is helpful too. equally as difficult as diet but just as important as diet, especially for us.  I think water exercises are easiest on the joints.  I visit another group that talks strictly about diet and exercise to help with RA and even control RA.  I think that's possible for some but not all. I wish it were that simple where size fits all.  we would all be very happy and pain free.
anyways, good luck the diet book.  I am buying the raw diet book and trying that for awhile.   It can't hurt, right.:)

Did anyone here know that a person can actually change blood types under certain circumstances?  If this has gotten anyones curiosity I'd be happy to explain it.

Wow what a brain fart!  I'm A positive, my wife is the one that is O positive!!!!
Duh
bob_h762008-11-24 18:47:43Well ya got mine!

I'm 0+ as well and all my children got my blood.
Another A+

There has only ever been one instance of switching blood types in the world.  It was a 15 year old austrailian girl that received a liver transplant.  Basically, when doing a transplant they kill off as many recipient cells as possible to try and avoid rejection of the organ.  In this case, stem cells leftover in the liver from the 12 year old boy it came from "seeded" the girls bone marrow and caused her to switch from O negative to O positive and took on his immune characteristics as well eliminatling the need for anti-rejection drugs.

This blew my mind in tech school and is probably a freak occurrence but wow what a thing to have happen!  Amazing thing the human body.  Too bad they can't do this on purpose it might mean good news for RA sufferers.

bob_h762008-11-23 20:15:35that is pretty cool  O+ here. O- here, wonder what I am supposed to be eating?
O- here, wonder what I am supposed to be eating?
When in doubt, I go with Pop-tarts and/or Coca-cola. AB+  Kinda rare I thinki think the book mentioned he thought most A+ got RA

A+ here
A+ for me.   There are more A+ and O+ responses so far, but those are the more common blood types as well, so makes sense to me.
A-

O+

I wonder if they have ever studied blood type and response to different biologics.  It seems like that would be related but I have no idea.
Looks like we could do a small survey in here of blood types, RA negative or positive, and response to different meds/biologics.  I have no idea what we would do with it - but its interesting how this is playing out.  Buckeye, I know you have a tough case of RA and you are the only B I think.  Perhaps the different blood types play into how mild to severe of RA you contract.  Just some idle thoughts.  A+ for me too!

justsaynomore, thats a great ideal about the survey.Do you know how to do one?

I am A-I think I am A+. maybe we could ask Innerglow to post where she found that free survey site when she did a survey for us about 6 months ago?B+
maybe we could ask Innerglow to post where she found that free survey site when she did a survey for us about 6 months ago?
