Enbrel Side Effects? | Arthritis Information

Hi All,

I have been taking my enbrel injections for two weeks now.  I don't know if this is just a strange coincedence but every third day my stomach cramps and I feel sick to my stomach.  This only lasts a couple of hours and then I'm fine.  Is there anyone else experiencing anything like this?  I take my enbrel shot on Saturday and my MTX on Thursday.  Also, did any of you experience this is the beginning and it got better with time?  I really want to stay with the enbrel because I can already see an improvement.  Thanks to all and Have a Happy Thanksgiving!  Hiking_gal

Enbrel has never upset my stomach and I've been on it for three years.  Methotrexate, however upset my stomach terribly when I was on it, and since it didn't seem to help me, I went off of it and am taking Enbrel alone.  I'm doing great!

The only side effects I've experienced from Enbrel are occasional headaches, which are easily resolved with excedrin, and dry eyes, which I relieve with restasis.
I have been taking Enbrel for a few years now and have never had
stomach cramps. I guess I don't even remember that being one of
the side effects. You could call your Pharmacy and find out.
I am glad it is helping you though.
I agree that it is likely to be the mtx that is upsetting your stomach. I am on Enbrel and asked my doctor last month if I could go off the mtx to see if it helped the way I feel, and it did. I had been on mtx for 5 years and I know I feel better off it.I've been on Enbrel for a year and I haven't had any stomach issues either.I too have been on enbrel for about a year and no stomach problems. I have been off it for a month due to having my tooth pulled and I sure missed it. I feel almost 100% on it!! Finally after 3 years, I found something to help!I haven't had any problems.  Maybe you should call the drug company and see what the nurses say.No stomach problems for me either.  Thursday it'll be a year that I've been taking it.  Glad it's working well for you so far.  I hope you continue to improve.
