Can anyone help. Has anyone taken humira. The doctor wants me to start on it soon. I was on enbrel but that faild. I had 19 sinus infection in 6 months. So he said off it. But you know I read about humira not much better even worsr it sounds. So you you all can give me feed back I would be happy. JoanWhat other meds are you taking?  19 sinus infections sounds pretty excessive maybe your rheumatologist should refer you to an ear, nose, throat specialist to get some CT scans done and to have a look back in there to see if anything else could be to blame.  I took Humira with methotrexate and a very high dose of prednisone.  The Humira was helping but the prednisone has caused me nothing but trouble since bumping up to the high dose.  As far as side effects from Humira, I only had the typical stuff.  Injection site soreness, maybe a little rednesss.  That's about it really.

Good luck with the Humira, I hope it works for you.

Humira did to me what Enbrel did to you. I had multiple sinus infections and then a chest infection which nearly put me in hospital.

When that happens what is going on is that particular medication instead of balancing our immune systems back to a normal level suppresses them even further, so we start getting infections.

Each drug relates differently to each patient, so you could try Humira and do really well on it whereas Enbrel you didn't. Unfortunately it's trial and error.

I find it very interesting that so many of us RAer's are partial to sinus infections. Many of us seem to be. Myself included. So I think it's kind of normal for us to have multiple sinus infections particularly if we are on a drug that maybe suppressing our immune system a little too much.

You probably just won't know with the Humira, unless you give it a go.
I've been on Humira for over a year and to date no problems.  I've had one sinus infection which cleared with 14 days of antibiotics.  Unfortunately, I've developed a fungal infection on my leg and it's been difficult to treat.  It's directly related to Humira.  After several months of treatment it's 75% better.  I took Enbrel for several years and during that time I had one sinus infection and it also responded well to antibiotics.

19 sinus infections in 6 months is just one big, long sinus infection.  Like Bob said you probably should have been referred to a specialist.  Sometimes when we're on biologics we develop sinus fungal infections that can be very serious, sinus cysts or other infections that are very difficult to treat and an EENT doctor can evaluate and treat.  Lindy

Give it a go, nothing to loose. It didn't work for me, but I didn't have any side effects.  Give it a try, this may be your miracle drug.  Good luckI would give it a try. Humira gave me severe sinus infections but enbrel didnt. so it might have a reverse affect on you. Good luckBoy I don't know I am so scared. I am always  feel like I got the flu everyday I wake up. As far as a specialist for my sisus I been there alot and there is nothing they can do. I had 2 sinus surgery already and those didn't help. He said because of my allgery's I don't have a chance. I am so sick right now. My doctor don't listen to me  he does what he wants. I am on 20 mg of predisone and that is it right now. I told him why should I go on hunira if it does the same thing like enbrel right. So we will see. They told me it would be 0.00 every 3 months do you think it's to much? JoanYou can get co-pay assistance through Humira for the first year. The first 6 months are free and then the next 6 months are . At least that's what it is for me and my original co-pay will be 0.

I have very few infections while on Humira.
I have been on Humira for at least a couple of years now--maybe even 3 years.  I have not had any of the infections.  I do have allergies but I had them before all of this.  I found my hands have gotten better.  I would have to say it has been great for me so far.  Your sinus infections--I agree is one infection that never got cleared up.  Good luck.
