Antiflams... | Arthritis Information

I took myself off of my Rheumy's prescribed med  Tilcotil ( not available in the States apparently) last Saturday as I wanted to do a wee test and see if I could cope without. So far so good! One pill down per day and 13 to go..lolol

Can you tell me if you are on a permanent antiflam? I am praying that Plaq, Sulfasalazine and my ( now) 5 mg Pred will keep me where I am which is very liveable. At the same time Im wondering if most of you take one or more each day on a regular basis. I am trying to save my stomach I guess...and my colon. Burning backsides are NOT pleasant.

TIA...

ibuprofen 800....I admit I don’t take it everyday. It hurts my stomach. I take a vicodin in AM and ibuprofen in afternoon and another vicodin (if needed) in the pm. I hope Won’t have to take so much once the plaq starts to work.

This summer I also had my own little test, I took myself off my Betaseron Injections, I was tired of injecting every other day, and one day I forgot, and that turned into 3 and so on, When the pharmacy called to re-new my shipment I told them I went off it, they ratted me out to my doc, Well the nurse called, and the Betaseron nurse assigned to me called they had fits....so I am back on it again. I personally did well without it and felt much the same. But, be prepared to hear it from your doc when you fess up providing you are able to stay stable and not take the Tilcotil.

Best Wishes,

Lisa

boring IO, boring..........you are a SYMPATHY SEEKER.  it's so obvious now when i go back and read your posts...............you have every ailment that everyone else does and then you trump them with yet another one...............pathetic.  why not leave this board to the real sick people and go get your attention elsewhere................you SUCK!
Hi Lisa,
I have been taking relafen for 3 years now twice a day. So far , so good. I haven't tried to cut back because I know when it's time in the evening to take it. My body tells me so.
Thanks for that CinDee...as it is now 4 days and my body hasn't complained so its full steam ahead!
Will see Rheumy on 18th December so I shall see what he thinks.

Well, I hope it all works out for you. Those things are so hard on the stomach not to mention cardiac problems.
Happy Thanksgiving!I've been on a number of NSAID's over the years, but on Relafen for at least the last 2 or so.  I haven't tried to cut back because my symptoms aren't under control yet.Hi Lyndee, I was on Celebrex and have stopped taking it.  I took one every day, then every other day, then every 3 days and then stopped.  Not much difference in how I felt.  Once I stopped Cele. I was able to stop Protonix.  Two meds that I didn't need.

I really believe that each of us should evaluate our meds regularly and review our meds with our doctors.  We might be better off without some of them because there's no need for them.  We take them out of habit, or we're taking them beyone their need.   In the last year due to clinical remission I've been able to stop 5 medications.

Thanks LinB for that!!!

ETA...I need to say that I do realise that many people dont have the luxury of taking a med away given the severity of their conditions. I am one lucky chickadee for now and Im thankful.
LyndeeNZ2008-11-25 23:53:57Hi Lyndee,
I'm on relafen, 1500 mg/day.  I dropped to one pill in August as my RD felt if the mtx/enbrel was working, I should be able to miss one.   Felt fine, went to my appt in Sept and she said to go ahead and skip it all together and just take as needed.   Tried that for about 2 weeks and had increased symptoms, so stayed on one pill.  Just recently went back to two pills as I continued to have symptoms.   Figured it was better to get back on relafen to see if it's just a flair rather than increase mtx.   We'll see what happens.    I'm with you, I'd prefer to save my stomach, so looking forward to trying to cut it back again.

Hope you continue to feel fine w/o your Tilcotil.

Just want to stress that LinB is in "clinical remission"  big difference from those of us who are not so lucky......  yet.
I've tried to stop my NSAID......  I ached so badly.. and it took hours for it to start working... I won't do that again until I have clear vision of my own remission.

good luck!
