Thinking about having my knees scoped. My ortho has suggested this several times. I am sitting here right now with a big ice pad across them. The Ice helps with the pain. I am also sitting on a heating pad for my stiff back. Crazy what I go through.
If I get my knees scoped I will do it before the first of the year. I already have met my insurance deductible for the year. My question is anyone have this done, was it worth it?, I get shots in them, they sound so loud up and down stairs and they hurt. I do not want to get surgery if it the result wont be significant. Has anyone did both at same time? How long to recover on an average?
I would appreciate any information, Thanks everyone.

If the scope is just to "clean" out the knees then you ought to look into this more. Every study that has come out says that surgery may actully accelerate the damage
Had a scope done to my right knee just a while back -- it did help some (limited) but it was very easy surgery for me. Had the surgery on a Friday and was back to regular stuff on Monday. didn't slow me down at all. My knees still pop going up and down stairs.while I can only discuss my own experience with a clean out surgery. Thanks everyone, My ortho doc who gives me injections in my knees has mentioned this to me several times, I never "discussed details" with him. He simply stated 'I think you would benefit from a scope." I let it fall flat at that. He knows I am not keen on surgery. He was the surgeon who repaired my rotator cuff last march, due to a vehicle accident, not arthritis, I experienced a massive tear. That was top shelf pain and hard work to Rehab. So I am in no hurry. I have hear more people say it really didn't do much, so I figured I'd ask around here.
Thanks for the response,
And Babs......Just 12 years old, that is awful. They have developed wonderful technique for new knee replacements now, have you had one?
