Cherries for Arthritis??? | Arthritis Information

We seen on television that a study conducted said that cherries relieve pain in Arthritis.

Now my family wants me to eat cherries, drink cherries, apply cherries, sleep in cherries, bathe in cherries.

So annoying.

It would be great if there is healing properties in cherries.

( I put up with my sister wanting me to do Bee stings for my MS.....yeah right. I told her every bee sting she takes I'll do one too! She dropped it)

Found the broadcast.

Has anyone used cherries for pain? Maybe there is something to it; Would beat all the drugs.

inflamedOnline2008-11-27 21:54:22I've heard of cherries for gout.Well, there's all kinds of foods that may help arthritis, such as raspberries, tumeric, ginger, pine oil, and fish oil (the oils actually work pretty good for a lot of people) etc, but yes, it is annoying that they pester you with whimpy, folksy solutions. Even cherry farmers get RA. Try to remember that they're really only trying to help.

...............ive been posting here all day because i have no real family life...........i didnt spend much time with family because their sick of me and i dont have any real friends............gee i wonder why.........could it be because im a bitch?!?!?!?!?
Too tired to find the research at the moment, but I believe it is only a particular kind of cherries...sour cherries...that were studied in the reduction of inflammation.

is'nt that the truth (but you don't look sick)

The tart cherries, its tart-not sweet cherries, though the dark one helps a little bit, that do have anti inflammatory properties. Unfortunately, as you will find out--you can very easily eat to many cherries. Think what happens if you eat too many prunes. Same thing, the runs. Cherries are expensive out of season, if you can find them, and the juice doesn't work. I tried it.

I suggest you ask them to eat a couple pounds of cherries, heheheheheh, and tell you how they feel. heheheheh[QUOTE=Bird Girrl]The tart cherries, its tart-not sweet cherries, though the dark one helps a little bit, that do have anti inflammatory properties. The thing is the report doesn't clarify any specific type of cherries.

A couple pounds of anything would make anyoneThis study suggests that it is not just the tart cherries:

I'm wondering if maybe the tart cherries have more anthrocyanins than the sweet, but both still give a benefit?

It would be nice if turns out to be truly effective. I think i will eat them and hope for a difference. I am also looking into the diet that lynB posted on another thread. I am getting desperate for some real relief. I do not like predisone, but I may have to use it to get some quick relief.

inflamedOnline2008-11-29 09:46:50I eat them when they are in season. They do help. Not like Motrin, they are great at lunch at work. But like I said, they aren't in season here for long, maybe a month or two a year. I can't get them now and sometimes when I can they are a pound. Beware of eating too many.I believe it was bing cherries...... I just read an article that stated it has inflationary potential......  I'll see if I can find it.http://www.brownwoodacres.com/cherryflex_softgels.htm
Going to get me some. It couldn't hurt.I thought the "cure" was fruit pectin in grape juice...all it did for me is give me a belly ache and the runs. I tried it during onset when I moved at about 1 step per 5 minutes- not a good thing I barely made it to the bathroom!I don't think they are promoting a cure......I think it could help though...worth a try.

Not giving up my vicodin. Just looking for extra relief.
No- not saying cure with the grape jusice either- I was just exaggerating. It's suppose to help though.

(Just stay close to a bathroom if you try it)
I'm guessing maraschino cherries on ice cream sundaes doesn't count? Maybe we could try pie or cobbler.

Do you think the natural healthfood type stores would have this in a pill form? I'm just curious cause maybe it would help with any stomach issues eating lots of cherries might cause.
yum Ice cream........

Na not going to eat lots of anything, just going to try the pill and supplement bar. I'll let you all know if it works or gives me the sh*ts...I love the way the post changes the I in sh*t into that little * ....wondering if that is what lorster was talking about
