RA and abnormal pap test results? | Arthritis Information

I got abnormal pap results in Sept. They did a biopsy and found
nothing. Then one month later I was diagnosed with RA. I was
just wondering if there might be a connection between the two.
My ob-gyn nurse didn't think so. But I am hoping to deal with
just one medical problem instead of having to deal with two. I
meet with my specialist for the first time next week but was
wondering if anyone had any neg. pap tests due to their RA.My pevic exam came back fine, however, I am having a terrible time with my right ovary. I am unable to get any diagnosis from any doctor. I have had a cat scan, seen a surgeon, now I am scheduled for a colonoscopy. so for nothing concrete. I am so fed up I could scream. The surgeon told me he didnt think I had anything serious, I am beginning to think it is my RA, but I wont see my doctor till jan. Let me know if you come up with an answer.

I've had an abnormal pap. Mine was infact due to pre-cancerous cells on my cervic though. I've had two precedures to biopsy and remove. I've since had two normal paps....so hopefully we caught it in time.

It's highly unlikely that mine had anything to do with RA. As unfortunate as it is...many, many things can go wrong with our health that has absolutly nothing what so ever to do with RA.

The experience taught me exactly how important that yearly exam is. Had they not caught it during my annual exam it would have developed into cancer. Sure made me a firm believer in annual exams.

It's not unheard of to get a bad result on those test though...I've heard of many people getting bad results that turned out to be nothing in the end. Hope everything will be fine for you.

Good for you Lovie,

Never ever forget your annual Paps and mammograms, if at the age for a yearly mammogram

Years ago I had the same problem with my Pap's...I had Cryosurgery done in the doctor's office.  I am sure glad they found it when it was just moderate cervical dysplasia.

I don't really think RA has anything to do with abnormal Pap's either.  Although RA can and does strike other organs in our bodies.

Any one 50 and older needs to have a colonoscopoy done...As we age our hormone levels drop and it puts us at risk for future health problems.  I make sure I have them listed on my calendar at special times of the year, so I never forget to get them done.  Once around the 'may pole' with cancer, is all I needed to make me a believer in getting the job done on time and done right.  Taking good care of my health is a job I don't mind doing.

Any one under 50 needs to take care of their bodies too by having their needed exams done and on time.  More than likely you are still taking care of family and they have come to depend on you, so be good to yourself as well as the people you love.  Take time out of your busy schedules to take care of yourself.  That's the best gift of LOVE that you can give to your family.

I hope you all find the reason for the discomfort you have been having.  RA is hard to deal with and I know what it is to have to worry about another health problem along with it, it can sometimes be very exasperating.  SO my fingers are crossed that you get your answers, find a way to stop the discomfort and that it is not anything to worry about.

My best to you both...

Toni

I think it's important for even us younger women....not just women over 50. My body is aging at an alarming rate of speed...I'm not sure what's causing that; but for some of us...like myself if you wait until your 50; it will be too late.
