Hi guys, my GP can't work me out, mind you, neither can I????

I had an endoscopy last week, and had helicobactor pylori which needed antibiotics.

I was given clarithromycin for it as I am allergic to penicillin!!!  Wait, you guessed it, allergy!!!!!  I was tearing itchy all weekend even with an antihistamine.  So I spoke to GP today, she told me to stop it immediately and will see me again on Thurs.  HEEELLLPPPP!!!!!  Hugs Janie.

Wish I could help.  I know being allgeric to meds suck.  I have some I am also.  Usually the welts that itch so bad you think you are going mad.  But I also found out I was allgeric to levaquin.  After taking the whole dose.  I thought reactions would be the welts and itching.  But I had pain.  Getting hot very hot after taking.  I couldn't touch my hands together without crying.  My knees swelled and got huge.  When I told my doctor about it (since the knees were still swollen a week later), she then told me it was a reaction.  Called a toxic posioning reaction.  I came home and looked it up by using the word toxic.  And boy I came across loads of people that suffered like me.

Just keep in mind (which I am sure you all already knew) a reaction can be a number of things.  Which I was too dumb to realize.  Well maybe not, I did call the ER and explained what happened and they told me it couldn't be the meds.  Found out yes it can.

Good luck to you.  I am sending you some positive thoughts.  I wish I had something that could help.  I found though while waiting on the meds to kick in to stop the itching if I soaked in a hot bath that helped (while I was in the bath).
Janie
have you ever checked to see if it was the fillers that you were allergic to and not the actual med....with multi med allergies its something to look into.
I am allergic to so many meds. Antibiotics especially. I took Clarithromyicin about a month ago. I was allergic to it. So crazy i kept taking it anyway. I was also taking pred. But i was at a loss of what else to do to get rid of the lung infection. One of these days i am going to be out of options. I take Cipro. But it is like taking water. So scary when you think about it. As far as the fillers goes i would be allergic to all of them probably. Well she surely has a plan. Best when in an allergic reaction to not jump into something else without a break. Could get a cross allergic reaction I have had that happen before.but Milly...what if it is the fillers you are allergic to and not the active ingrediants in the meds..at least then you could have your meds compounded and will then have some options...isn't worth checking to see if that is the problemYes it would be so worth it. But i know i am allergic to ever thing with sulfer in it. Even diaretics. I am really sure i am allergic to something they put into time release drugs. I am allergic to antifungals. Well you know even the ones you use vaginally. I just really do not have my hopes up.
Do you think they would really compound everything for me? Where would i start. Get an allergy test for fillers or what?i would start with an allergist or talking to a compounding pharmacistI too am allergic to so many things..enbrel, iron tablets, lefluminide, plaq, elastoplast, gold injections, amoxicillen, over the counter flu remedies such as night nurse, benylin. Im also allergic to hair dye and body moisturisers apart from Dove . I also cant use softner in my wash as im allergic to that even the sensitive stuff...it gets to be pain.
