Well got Thanksgiving under our belts on to the next holidays! What does everyone celebrate here? Christmas for me. I have a good portion of my shopping done already...but that's normal. I get this false sense of security and then all of a sudden I'm down to the wire and still have a lot to shop for! Did a lot of online shopping which I love. The kids send me links and bing bang boom- no crowds to fight, parking spaces to ride around looking for, no heavy bags to lug! A lot of places are offering free shipping too- that's the one thing I hate- paying for shipping.

I'll be hosting Christmas Eve for my husband's family again this year. I do almost every year and people like it best at our house. We in live in the house they grew up in so it holds a lot of special memories for all of them. We do a pollyanna and we do a grab bag. We have no small children in the family right now so we have to make our own fun. Some are getting to the age where they may be blessing us with some babies soon.
What are the traditions you carry on each year?
Well its Christmas here for us too, We are into our help the elderly scheme. My daughter is volunteering at a shelter. We are also having xmas dinner at our house and our decorations went up yesterday ( going to post some pics in a minute)..
our lounge
We do Christmas with Kids& Grandkids Sunday before Christmas and Christmas spent with my sisters and then go to Dad's family, where always some singing and guitar playing.

That's great about living in the house your hubby grew up in!!! I love older homes. I haven't started decorating yet. maybe this weekend.. wish it would snow!!!!!!!!
we celebrate Christmas.
As we speak the kids are cleaning out the toy boxes.  Actually they dont have a lot of toys  to begin with but if they want Santa to come they have to give away or throw away at least 25  items.

We already have to give away a collection of the toddler size Legos, out grown books, stuffed animals, and  a few  baby toys.

We do Freecycle and its good to see stuff get a new home.

I have always been very low key for Christmas.

I REFUSE to bake cookies or other "holiday" stuff.

We put up a wreath, lights, and  bows on the porch and  small lawn ornament.
ONE Christmas tree, with decorations from  the past 35 years.

The kids each get one "big toy" and they probably run about each... otherwise its crayons, books, little ponies and Matchbox cars.. I mean REALLY low key.. the merchants make darn little on us. 3 years ago I spent about 0 on a really really good building block set, which the kids still play with almost daily.

DH gets a video or 2, a book or 2 and a set of pilot colored pens.. he looks forward to those darn pens all year...
and I usually get a Kmart 10K gold necklace, a kitchen gadget and maybe a sweater.

Every sentient being in the house gets a package of socks.

I told you its low key.

I refuse to wear myself out..

We go to the christmas concert at Ally's school and the kids are in the parade , we watch the fireworks and do the hayride.. We carol at the nursing home and downtown.. We sponser one child on the angle tree.

Christmas Day we have a nice roast beef dinner and sit around and  read our books and watch videos..

I LOVE it.
