Resveratrol? | Arthritis Information

I'm just curious if anyone has ever had any success with resveratrol. I have been taking it for about a month now along with minocycline mtx etc, and I feel very close to normal. I have been on the minocycline about 6 months months now, so maybe that is starting to work. I also read that resveratrol is a very powerful drug that may significantly increase your lifespan, as well as preventing multiple disease states from occuring. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this compound and had any success? Also would like to know how long people who have taken minocycline had been on it before the pain and swelling started to regress and whether they had reached remission. Hey, RX, I have a freind who's into Resveratrol but all I know about it is what I read on Wikipedia, so I can't say.

I have been on minocycline for over a year and every time I reduce my MTX I have a herx or flare which levels out to pain free or almost pain free in 2 to 12 weeks. I have gone from 20mg MTX to 5mg. I have been on 5mg for about 3 weeks and I'm starting to have some pain in some fingers and the sides of my feet. I don't think there's much point in taking less than 5mg of mtx so the end of my mtx wean must be getting near.

AP works differently for everybody, just like all other RA drugs. Some people report pain relief in weeks, but I have seen some people take over a year (but now they are very glad they stuck with it). Generally, people are told it can take up to 2 years before it really gets going. It seems like the longer you've had the disease, the longer it takes to kick in.

Many people report better results when adopting a gluten and/or dairy free diet.

So because of so many extenuating factors (disease duration, diet, genes) no one can really answer how long it will take for you. My rule for myself is a little pain is okay but joint damage is not, so I and my doctors keep close tabs on my progress.I prefer my reservatrol in a nice glass of red wine, or a handful of dark grapes. I think the problem is you have to drink a barrel of red wine a day to equal the supplements.

But wait a minute.....that doesn't sound so bad.

Yea... I'm not seeing a problem there...
