chest wall pain | Arthritis Information

Hi Everyone
I have chest wall pain - the Dr says heart etc is okay and there are no joints in my chest. It is very worrying more than painful. I have had it since I got RA 2 years ago....?

Any thoughts would be welcome...

Cathy
I have this pain too. I learned from a wholistic PT to deep breathe into it...so that is what i do. It does help a bit. i think it is from overall tightness...i also have this pain and my doc also said there are no joints in the chest...my heart is also ok. definately could be overall tightness, although it feels like the lungs...  There are joints in your chest....just different types. Every place where
your ribs meet your sternum is an area for inflammation to set in. I just
received 3 cortisone shots in my chest due to inflammation. It looks like I
have a third boob sometimes. And yes...it does feel like a heart attack.
Very scary stuff. I was more concnered when the pain first started cause
there wasn't swelling. But, once swelling occured it was obvious that it
was RA. Still, my dr. did a chest x-ray to make sure my lungs weren't
affected.

I hope you feel better. That chest pain is by far the worst aspect of my
RA.

I have had this too.  It is RA related and is called Costochondritis

Do a web search on Costochondritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis and I'm sure you'll get some helpful info.

I to thought it was a heart attack the first time it happened to me.  I've periodically sometimes for weeks, and sometimes for just a few days.

Yikes Becky, I can't imagine having injections in the chest

hope this helps

i have this too last night i went by ambulance to the hospital cause my migraine which i get thanks to all this came with chest pains which i have had before but this time i had tingling in toes and fingers and my hands blew up huge and i had weird feeling my rhuemy told me the chest pains are joints but the other stuff? anyways they checked my heart it was fine ........teresaPhew - thanks all - I feel better now..!!

I have it too....my RD said it's definately related to RA. An increase in my medication always settles it down for a while. For the last three years it's been the first symptom to return as my medications begin to lose their effects.

It's not nearly as scary (Still very painful) as it was at first. I too though I was having a heart attach!!

Cold packs relieves the pain better than anything else for me.
