PULSE SuckASS!! | Arthritis Information

Ok, I know my pulse has not been undercontrol since they took me off Bystolic and just left me taking Coreg and then I got put on Coreg 12.5mg twice daily, since insurance will pay for it and does not need a PA for it.

I have not been feeling well since being put back on Coreg 12.5mg twice daily. I have been feeling lightheaded and everything feels like in slow motion, when I am walking around or doing something like cleaning house.

Well... tonight I was walking from the car into Wal-Mart and I just felt really lightheaded and did not feel well. So... I walked over to the blood pressure machine and sat down and started it up.

My blood pressure was 139/89 .... pulse 127.

Then I took it again and my blood pressure was 128/79 ... pulse 121.

Then I went and found hubby and told him about it and walked to go get the cat & dog food and then circled back around to the blood pressure machine so I could get a reading again. Because I was feeling really really lightheaded and my face was really red.

This time my pulse was 134/88 ... pulse 139. I took it 3 more times my blood pressure kept going down, but my pulse never went under the 120. My blood pressure on the 4th try was 117/68 .... pulse 120.

It is a good thing I am going to see the cardiologist this week some time. This needs to be fixed or new meds that insurance will pay for need to be found. I am tired of feeling like I am going to kill over from just walking from the car into a store and out of breath and not able to talk because I am gasping for air.

I asked hubby if I passed out in Wal-Mart and rushed to the hosptial, if the doctors would work really hard this time to find out why I have a rapid pulse and actually fix it this time! He said probably not, just make more hospital bills for me not to be able to pay. I was like yeah... probably right.
I just thought about it... maybe that is why I have been feeling really fatigured lately, because my pulse is rapid again?. It does kinda fall into about the same time I stopped taking Bystolic, but it also falls into about the same time I started Remicade back up too.

I do not know. I am start to think.... I need to just stop taking all of my meds and then see if that fixes this rapid pulse problem. But I cannot because most of them I need to be weaned off of. ARGH!!!!!

Well... I know it is not the Nortriptyline like the cardiologist suggested it might be as I have been off of it for close to 2 months now. Still a rapid pulse.

He did say that the prednisone could be the cause as well and talked about weening me off of it, but RD said she did not feel I was ready to be weened off of it yet and for him to call her if he decides that he wants to ween me off the pred.

That is so crazy.  So have they checked your thyroid, for Graves or anything?

I didn't feel well the other day but mine was only 100.  I think I had a hyperthyroid episode.  I can't imagine it being that high!

Joonie. You should not hang out with a pulse that high. Is it regular? Especially on a beta blocker. You need to go to the doctor ASAP to get this checked out. You never know when something else is going on. I personally do not trust those BP machines so be sure to check a radial pulse and count for one full minute.

Joonie, that is a REALLY fast pulse! My average pulse is 62! My gosh, I think I would have called the doctor right then.

Please let us know when you find out why that happened to you.
Hugs, Nini
Joonie- my brother in law recently had that problem. He was checked into the hospital and they ran all kinds of test and could not find a reason for it. They let him out and I really don't know if it ever went down- they didn't do a thing for him... My pulse is the same, always really high. It never used to be, it used to be normal, but when I started feeling bad that was one of the symptoms. Cardiologist found nothing wrong even though I passed out from my BP spiking during my stress test. Dr put me on Toprol (generic) and my pulse was down about 10 bpm but still in the high 80's or 90's resting.  My mom's blood pressure has been high and the dr prescribed a machine. I asked about those machines at Wal-mart and other stores and dr said that those are not accurate and not to rely on the results because they would be incorrect.
Do you have a blood pressure machine at home?
I hope you can get it fixed up and you feeling good for the holidays.
take care
No, the machine was right. I counted my own pulse when I got in the car. It was in 132.

I can tell when my pulse is up, I feel lightheaded and then I cannot talk because I am out of breath and I can feel my heart pounding and the vein in my neck pumping. I just figured my BP was up, but it was not above normal. It was just my pulse that was way up there.

Yeah... they checked my thyroid a bunch of times. My RD even ran a very through test for thyroid when she took those 13 vials of blood. It came back normal. I even was sent to a thyroid Dr beginning of the year, and he said it was not my thyroid.

No, one knows why it is doing this. The cardiologist was suppose to be figuring it out, but I had only been to him that one time and they never made me a follow up appt. I was to get a follow up appt after I done the bubble test, but I did not have it done. So... no appt with the cardiologist.

After I got put back on Coreg 12.5mg I made an appt with the cardiologist because I knew that it was not going to keep my pulse under control. Earliest appt they had was almost 2 months away from the day I called, I called in the middle of October! I even tried to get a sooner appt, by telling them of my rapid pulse, and they said if it got too bad to go to my GP. I was like my GP cannot help me, that is why I was sent to you guys! She said well sorry, but that is the soonest we have. I was like fine.

Yep...

I feel ok now. As long as I do not do too much of anything.

I do not think they will ever figure out what is causing it.

My RD told me to tell the cardiologoist to look for some kind of nerve trigger. That I might have a nerve that leads to my heart that is pinched or misfiring. I never heard of anything like that, but she said if they cannot find anything after all the testing I had, that it could be something like that.
