edited: Thanks JanLike you, Cordy, I am making absoutely sure I do all of Ally's events... even when it meant carrying 35 pounds of sleeping 3 year old down the stairs, and out to the car and then back again so she could go carrolling with the girl scouts..(I had no one to watch him, even for the 15 minutes it took to go get her.)
We also had her Christmas concert, parent teacher conference and Santa's workshop..
I am very carefully planning my Christmas shopping. I expect to do 90% in walmart, and maybe 5% on line. Mark and I agreed to cut wayyyyyyy back this year and limited our gift giving to each other to maybe . I cant do that much on line because I REFUSE to pay an additional 16% interest PLUS shipping.
We have about 5 regularly scheduled gifts.. For example, every sentient being in the house on Christmas morning gets a package of white socks. (for some reason for the past 6 or 7 years there seems to be an extra lost soul or 2 spending Christmas with us.. So I make sure they get at least some small thing.. ) I stock up on white socks through the year in assorted sizes, for male and female..Also everyone gets a toothbrush.. again I stock up through the year.. everyone gets a stocking.. sooo there are a handful of gender neutral gifts that go into stockings.
I nap when I can, and insist the kids entertain themselves.
I especially like "Take a breather"!!!!!!!!Still like "Take a breather"!!!I went Christmas shopping today with the crowds in our little town. I got Christmas pinatas for the Christmas eve children's party, Mexican chocolates, silk shaws, a lighted star, pink poinsetta, and hats for some of the workers. I didn't have to stand in line and I think I spent about .00 and did all of my Christmas shopping!!!!! I'm done........Stan gets his gift when we get back to the states in April. A new power tool. Not stressful, just delightful. If I had gone to Puerta Vallerta to shop I would have had to put into play all of the previous suggestions including Valium so I could drive. Now I have to wrap it all and I've got a huge mermaid and a santa pinata sitting in my small living room.....cats are extremely curious. LindyLindy I envy your life!
WTB, don't envy me. Not good karma Actually, even with it all I still have, all the health issues that everyone else has, and in some cases less. I just choose to live my life in the tropics. We planned on this life for 12 years (the whole time we had been together) and it happened to work out in spite of my declining health. It was a leap of faith. Lindy That's my dream too Lindy- to one day live in the tropics. Hope I have the guts to make a leap of faith!
Lindy-
A small town helps also!!!!!! Helps alot!!!
Still like taking a breather.I'm driving especially carefully. There seem to be alot of speeders out now. What a great post! "Letting go" has always been hard for me to do, especially this time of year when you long for family and tradition and are feeling rotten to boot. This has helped me find my zen and my mantra will be "It will all be okay". Thanks.
Its mad here too, I cant believe how many people have left their shopping till the last minute. Being of an anal nature mine was done ages ago. Xmas day will see me doing the starter and cooking a big joint of beef which has been marinating since Sunday, my MiL is doing turkey and the SiL is doing desert, all served up at my house. I'm really looking forward to xmas day, eating, drinking, games and prizes. I plan to take some nice long walks in the bracing scottish hills, play with my cats and enjoy my holiday until I go back to work on the 5th.
Happy Holidays to you all.
Wills-
