An Amgen spokesman writes to say: “We don’t believe we violated the patent and we will defend against their allegations.”
An Amgen spokesman writes to say: “We don’t believe we violated the patent and we will defend against their allegations.”
You seem to forget that Big Pharma is guilty until proven innocent...
Man, where is that coming from? The article reports Amgen is accused of violating patents.

Or is your idea the reporter should just assume that the University of Iowa is just launching frivolous lawsuits for the hell of it and should therefore be ignored by the media?

I mean, really, what is your point?A straw man argument is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position.[1] To "set up a straw man," one describes a position that superficially resembles an opponent's actual view, yet is easier to refute. Then, one attributes that position to the opponent. For example, someone might deliberately overstate the opponent's position.[1] While a straw man argument may work as a rhetorical technique—and succeed in persuading people—it carries little or no real evidential weight, since the opponent's actual argument has not been refuted.[2]No Jaz,

I didn't forget. I am an american. A citizen of the great United States. Something Gimpy can only dream of. That's why she finds it so hard to post something good about my great country. She constantly looks for negatives to post about my country, she's jealous. When Gimpy and JSNM claimed that big pharm buys cures from university and then backs it up with "........prove they don't, everyone knows they do". In the United States, you need evidence. In the United States until found guilty, a person or org or firm or etcs are considered innocent. Like I said, how would you like to have JSNM or Gimpy on your Jury?

Gimpy, I can always tell when you have over puffed on the marijauna. You bring up "the straw man" and try to sound like you are some "learned scholar".

Really, I don't think that the post is even relevent. When and if Amgen is found guilty, post that bit of information. It seems that a few people look for the bad in the big pharms that we with ra have dealings with for what ever reason. No matter what you say or post, I appreciate amgen and enbrel, live with it. And who knows what the U of I's motives are. There is alot of money involved. Why say that U of I wouldn't file a frivolous lawsuit? That's like saying that Amgen is guilty, right? Before trial even.

You're welcome Gimpy.

I agree.  It is what it is.  There is a link to the court documents.  When I see an article on the outcome, I'll post that, too.
