Thought you may want to follow this story. Should be interesting.

WASHINGTON - Wild, unprovoked gunfire and grenades killed 14 innocent Iraqis and hurt dozens more in a 2007 Baghdad attack, prosecutors said Monday in announcing charges with mandatory 30-year prison terms against five Blackwater Worldwide security guards.

The Justice Department called the shooting a shocking and devastating violation of human rights. The harsh words echoed the outrage of Iraqis, who have waited more than a year to see how the U.S. would respond to the shooting on a busy street in the Iraqi capital.
The shooting by the largest U.S. security contractor in Iraq sparked international condemnation, launched congressional hearings and inspired anti-American insurgent propaganda.
All surrender in Utah
The five security guards — all decorated military veterans — surrendered in federal court in Utah, where one of them lives. The five guards walked wordlessly through a phalanx of reporters. A judge ordered the guards to report to a Washington courthouse Jan. 6, where they were expected to plead not guilty.
A sixth Blackwater guard struck a deal with prosecutors, turned on his former colleagues, and pleaded guilty to killing one Iraqi and wounding another.
"None of the victims of this shooting was armed. None of them was an insurgent," U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Taylor said at a Justice Department news conference in Washington to announce the charges.
Prosecutors said the slain included young children, women, people fleeing in cars and a man whose arms were raised in surrender as he was shot in the chest.
Twenty others were wounded in crowded Nisoor Square, including one injured by a grenade launched into a nearby girls' school. Another 18 Iraqis were assaulted but not wounded, prosecutors said.
Blackwater, which was not charged in the case, maintains its guards were protecting themselves from what they believed was an imminent car bomb attack.

The rest of the story is on MSNBC.COMA Tragic error on there part. It cannot be easy being in the middle of a war when people (woman and men ) are suicide bombers  or personell grenade launchers. Mistakes are made. I think of things like friendly fire etc and all the pain that causes. Being on" your toes " 24/7 in a war zone cannot be easy. I wonder Lorster if this had been Militant Muslims blowing up a square or killing American soldiers would you have taken the time to comment . I think not.

Andrew Franks united States Military, recently died while he and his Buddy were feeding the Iraqs under a tent, a Iraqi man shot them both close range. Both soldiars died.

Franks is being shipped back here in a box, just in time for christmas. Family is devasted.

WAR is hell.

6t5, My cousin Jason Obert was killed in Bagdad in April of 2005. He worked for Blackwater. He had been there 13 days when the helicopter he was traveling in was shot down over baghdad. You can google him, many stories.   He would never do something like this. This is a tragedy. As the mother in law of a marine who spent 6 months in Fulugia (sp) in 2004 during the very worst time in that war...he explained to me just how bad things were and even now, he can't get the whole story out...it will take time. He is still on antidepressants because he cannot sleep at night, has to sit in the corner anywhere he is, drives down the middle of the road, spooks easily. I'm sure if I had been in that situation, I may have acted the same. But I would not have shot someone who had their hands in the air...someone that was unarmed. I would not have shot women and children. The truth will come out and hopefully justice will be served.
If we had not gone to this war, none of this would have happened.

Lev went on and on about this...I just thought he would be interested in following this. [QUOTE=inflamedOnline]

No, I did not read about this. Another tragedy that if we were not there, it would not have happened. I will google it though.[QUOTE=lorster] [QUOTE=inflamedOnline]

inflamedOnline2008-12-09 11:45:09is the name spelled right? i cannot seem to find his name at all on google.6t5, yes, it is no secret that I am antiwar. I walked in the Oct 27 NYC march. I attend where ever I can. It does not mean I do not support our troops. I just see no sense in this. I'm glad we took Saddaam out but his people should have done that. It was their job, not ours.Lorster,

I can't imagine killing innocent men and women and children unless spooked to believe that they were a threat. I never like the fact that one defendant is given cush to say what the prosecution tells them to. Again, as far as I'm concerned, they are innocent until proven guilty. If they are truly guilty of blatant murder, give them the worst. At the time of our "spat" over this story over a year ago, I didn't call you on the story altho at that time I was a little sick of you and JSNM and a few others constantly posting derogatory stories against my government, my country, our brave soldiers the president and his administration. You, like all democrats placed as many obstacles in the way of success as possible. Snarling dogs, the koran flushed down the toilet. There is no doubt in my mind that you and your ilk (no offense) wet your panties in glee with every death of our brave soldiers just so that you can say, see what the bush did. And now after doing and saying everything possible to be an obstacle to the current administration, you now believe that we should all sing koombya and support the new president whether we be dems or repubs or indies. Anyway, what I had called you on last year when you first posted this story is that you said that you knew for a fact that blackwater securities had previously many times killed innocent men women and children. That's what I called you on remember? I said for you to give us the proof and I asked you if you had contacted the fbi concerning the murders that you knew about that blackwater securities had committed because the fbi was conducting an investigation and was sure that the fbi would want to have the information that you have about other blackwater murders, that was my problem with your post and to this day, you still haven't explained the other "many murders" committed by blackwater securities, remember?

I went on to post two more examples of this Lev, and you NEVER responded to me. I went to look it up and it had been deleted in the thread when the board was changed. Don't say I never responded to it because I did. not comfortable with leaving the link. inflamedOnline2008-12-09 18:04:54How horribly sad. Only 26. Lorster,

It's easy to say you did but they were deleted. Easy enough to fix. Just tell us all about the other blackwater securities massacres. Remember last time we went thru this? Knock-knock, Lorster. This time I look forward to your information about murders committed by blackwater security.
