left sided flank pain? | Arthritis Information

i got remicade thrusday and thursday night my left side started hurting.  slept with a heating pad thursday and friday.   saturday the pain was increasing and i noticed a rash.   my friend said i had shingles she came and looked at the rash and listened to me describe the pain.  she said if the rash got darker call the doctor.   the rash got darker i called the doctor.   i got a steriod pack and valtex.   i started both them immediately.  i felt better sunday although in the afternoon the rash stung a bit.    monday i woke up to no rash and horrible side pain.   no twisiting , turning, any movement hurt.    went to the GP   he put me on kaflex and loratab.....i cried.... left crying.   got home.   called RD and i got the remicade nurse she said do not fill the kaflex.   and she made me an ememrgency appointment with my RD.   i brought my husband for back up!    dr adams thinks it is shingles too even though there are no visible lesions.    pray i get all better soon.    has any one else experienced this?    dr told me if i get worse to go to the hospital.    i think the remicade helped trigger the attack.Geez- an awful lot of people here have had shingles recently. Hope you feel better soon WW! Shingles = not fun.  Had them in september, on my head of all places!  Talk about something that felt good.  The good news is that if the doc caught it within the first 36 hours you shouldn't have much pain after they have healed.   The bad news is, you have shingles in the first place.  They aren't nice to have...talk about ruining the holidays.

Get better soon

dr adams told me he had seen 6 patients today with shingles!    wild isnt it.Sorry you are feelling poorly. Shingles would be terrible. Hope it doesn't last too long. Feel better. A lowered immune system would help provide a good environment for shingles. That does not mean it would happen every time that you get an infusion. Well I wouldn't think? I really guess you could discuss this with your doctor. I have never had an infusion so i do not really know much about it.I am so very sorry. I hope for a speedy recovery.

The last infusion I got another patient was telling Rd that they were getting over shingles, he said because she was on remicade is why she got it.

oh so sorry Wonderwoman, I have heard shingles are awful. My friend's dad had them and she told me about them. Yuck. Sorry again, I hope you get better really really soon.I am soooo sorry to hear of this wonderwoman! This is the last thing you needed. I am sorry. I hope you get to feeling better soon and it goes away quick. Please keep us posted!

Much hugs to you.

P.S. - Now I am afraid to go get my next Remicade infusion in January. any biologics can trigger shingles.   i have been on remicade 5 years and my doctor still does not want to take me off it yet.    i am a hard to treat patient.    he really has to play with my meds to get it right.   keep praying!    i want no hospital stay.   i am going to try to take a nap. wonderwomanThere are several things that could be causing your pain, and none are any fun.Kidney stone, kidney infection, urinary tract infection, blockage in the ureters...
Ulcer, colitis, diverticulitis...
Pneumothorax...

Pain like that needs a professional opinion. Please see your doctor or emergency room ASAP.
