What Exactly Is a HeadAche? | Arthritis Information

Ok... Last Friday I woke up with a horrible head pain. The right side of my head from behind the ear all the way up to my temple was very tense and felt swelled. The back of my head on the right side all the way to my eyes were hurting and very painful. It hurt to open my eyes or to even get out of bed.

I tried to sleep it off, but it did not help. It just stayed around. I just laid in bed until hubby got home and then took a muscle relaxer and a couple of ultracets. It took over 2hours for the pain meds to even touch the pain.

The right side of my head, where the mucsle runs up to your temple from the back of your head, is still swelled and you can feel it. Like it is all tense.

Well... this morning I woke up again... with the same pain in the right side of my head, except it was not as painful as it was Friday. But it still kept me in bed. It was more tolerable after I woke up the second time after son woke up. then it just easied off and I did not have to take any pain meds or muscle relaxers.

I am not sure what it is that is causing this. I thought it was from my pillow, as last time this happened to me it seemed like it was from my neck being strained from my pillow being too flat. But I bought a new pillow, and it still happened to me on Monday.

I guess I could be migraines that my RD says I get, which I argued with her that I did not get them. But after I read up on what migraines were and all... I decided she was right. I just thought it was all from my neck muscles being all tensed up and all.

What exactly is a headache? Is it where your brain hurts? Or when your head hurts and not your brain? Would your brain ever hurt?

HI joonie, this could be from your cardiac probs, esp if you have high BP or fast pulse, hopefully the cardiologist will sort you out.  Good luck from moi!Humm... so I should probably mention this to my cardiologist at my appt today?

Never thought it might be related.
Oh darn it! I hit post and just thought of adding this.

You know when I had that possible TIA? It was the right side of my head/face that was affected. It is still numb where my temple is and my checkbone too.
Yes Joonie, definitely mention all of this, I am sure its important enough for you to tell him.  I hope he can sort you out, hugs Janie.  Let us know how you go.
