Got a shot in my shoulder today. Ouch!! Will get physical therapy. Partial rotary cuff tare. So the RA swelling doesn't help. Should feel better in a day or two but the shot sort of makes it hurt for now. Only if i use it or try to take off my coat or something.
I had a rotator cuff tear 3 years ago. My doctor told me they don't normally heal very well on their own, so she sent me to a great shoulder surgeon and he repaired it for me. The surgery wasn't terribly bad (actually went home the same day), but the PT was pure hell! LOL. It was necessary to my recover though, and I have re-gained full range of motion. I remember how hard it was to get comfortable at night, and how much pain I was in before I had the surgery. I feel for you!
I have a good surgen about forty miles away. This ortho is two blocks away every Wednesday at the out patient clinic. He does surgery also. I havn't thunk it out that far yet.Anyway i am in sort of shock! Just that i hurt it years ago at work. Had an MRI and was told it had minor problems and probable RA and was sent to RD. Then was told fibro for years. To think i could have been using this arm more productively all of this time. Well the past i will let go. Guess i should just be glad they finally got to the bottom of this. I really had been convinced it was not torn. I did not expect this news. I guess it is good news if they can fix it after all of this time?I'm so sorry! I hope you are able to sort things out and get well soon.not all rotator cuff tears need to be surgically repaired. We have a lot of successful recoveries in our PT office. Yes, there are definitely ones that have to have surgery; I was one of them. Milly, I shared with you before about my rotator cuff repair, I had anchors put in, the surgery for me was painful and so was the recovery. But the PT was very important, slow, but important. I can not stress enough that the PT and what you do AFTER the surgery will be the nut in the shell for a good outcome. Good luck. And you might NOT have to have surgery, I hope for that for you. Just give the PT a good go at it.
