I cancelled Christmas | Arthritis Information

well not actually Christmas.. but I was planning on going out today from 9-400 and doing all my shopping in one swell foop, but woke up feeling like  I was run over by a truck, so I canceled the baby sitter and am still in my nightie at 1030 ..

awwww- always hits you at the worst possible time!  Hope you feel better soon!i am not shopping this year.  i am hoping to give everyone some money.  that is it.  everyone is sick out there and i think i need to stay in.  next week i hope i make the grocery store and cook a few things.  we have no tree or anything.  this year we just really need to cut back.   but the holidays have gotten rediculous in my opinion anyway.  the weather here is yucky and my company left and i am not dressing this week and i am staying away from sick people.    w.w.Hey, what can you do.  this wacko disease has no rhyme or reason.  you are right to listen to your body and just rest. shopping can wait. some people even wait until after x-mas to do thier shopping.  better sales.

do you notice any increased pain with certain foods.  I know soy products flare me, products with a lot of chemicals and preservatives, too many calories in a day, more than 2,000,  cause a flare for me too.  not enough rest will cause a flare or being dehydrated can cause a flare. cycle time causes a flare so what's that too much estrogen in the blood? even if I am anxious or worried about something can causes a flare.  getting a good night's rest, eating fruits and salads the day before, being hydrated might increase your chances of feeling up to the task of shopping the next time. but as you know there is no guarantee. hope this passes soon.  feel better.

Sorry to hear you woke up feeling crappy!  But I agree, good for you for listening to your body and staying in your nightie!

Hope you feel better!  I don't think its too late to order on line.....
If Amazon.com doesn't sell it, I'm not buying it.  They even have gift-wrapping available, and gift certificates too!  I haven't physically gone Christmas shopping in years. I got spoiled this year with on line shopping as well.[quote] I cancelled Christmas

Me too, about 25 years ago: we celebrate the solstice with a sip of Mead and a votive offering. Gift giving has long since passed its prime!

We celebrate Christmas over at the church, and typically get the kids a couple of gifts.

If I, we, had children I am certain we too would purchase presents for them. As it is just we two old curmudgeons, we give gifts on OUR b'days.
Oh Kathy sorry you dont feel good....stay in your jammies and spoil your self. I cancelled today too and feel better for it....Shopping online is so much better..no one coughing over you in the shops, no pushing, shoving, standing in queues.... Not to mention the ability to do price/product research and comparisons, and also (at least for me) avoid impulse-buying. [QUOTE=aguaeon] [quote]We celebrate Christmas over at the church, and typically get the kids a couple of gifts.

We're not much into birthdays - just a cake (prepared by the boys) and going out to eat dinner.   Christmas is the biggie - lots of stuff going on over at church/school, and then we go to Minnesota to visit family for a week or so.  This year we're leaving on Christmas Day, right after our midday dinner with my parents.

First: travel safely and enjoy the journey. Second: My husband is SO good at b'days...always a goodly surprise for me, dinner out, a bottle of my favourite spirit, and some grand indulgence: and THAT is for his b'day! My b'day is even better! YEAH
Well I am glad you did not actually cancel x-mas. I for one would have been disappointed. Hope you feel better soon. Maybe you can do it in two or three swoops instead  of one.I feel bad for the procrastinators here in town as we have major storms lining up one after the other, yikes!

I buy all year long and set aside as I find special things I think someone will love. It makes my shopping easier and less expensive all at once.

owiemom-

Where are you?
