Cortisone shot question | Arthritis Information

Has anybody got a cortisone shot?....not in a joint but just a shot for the all over joint pain.

If so did it work? I wonder if this would be an option for me. I just got my knees and hip cortisone injections...but my hands , feet, and ankles hurt as well....I have been awake since 3:15 am....tired of this pain...feeling really down. I may go ahead and try the burst pack of pred. Just wondering if  a overall body shot would be a viable option.

I have had one of those shots. I was kinda forced into having it. I was cornered by my ex-RD and his nurse. He knew I did not like shots, so he "cornered" me and gave me the shot. I was sitting in a chair and he stood infront of me so I could not get up. Besides at the time I was really bad off and I could not move fast enough to get away anyways LOL!!

He knew I needed it, but I would not let him give it to me, willingly. Even though I was in a lot of pain, had chronic inflammation, and so swelled I could hardly move.

It helped me for about 3 weeks, I believe. It did sting, but not as bad as I thought it was going to.

I did have the munchies, probably worse than my normal pred dose munchies. I craved sugar.

I hope you find something to help you with all your pain and inflammation. It is the pits. I am having a lot of my symptoms to return, and I did not get my next Remicade infusion until the first or second week of Jan.

I say go for the shot. But I have had better results with the medrol dose pack. It seems to give me more "energy", but does not last as long as the shot does.

Hope you feel better soon!
I've had several like that and they worked well for me. I've had 2 lots (one in each cheek... if you know what I mean), the first was instant relief. The second was not so quick but lasted for about 3 weeks.

A lady at our recently formed Midlothian RA Group had one a year ago and she's been pain free since then, which is amazing when you see how damaged and bent her fingers are.

Horses for Courses I think.

Wow, Joonie.  I'm shocked your doctor would do something knowing the patient wasn't giving consent.  He could get sued for that and I'm sure there are people out there that would sue him.  I'm glad it helped you, though.

I had a cortisone shot in my hip before for some dermatitis.  It didn't sting at all.  Sorry, I don't have any experience with them for joint pain.

Kweenb, its called restraint, is illegal and Joonie could sue him if she wanted. She has rights. This is wrong.

Thanks to those who responded about the cortisone shot. It is helpful. The shot in the bursa on my hip is like a miracle! The hip bursitis was killing me on top of every other joint. The shot in the knees is starting to help allot. They still are the loudest, crunchiest, squeakiest, stiff little knees that they like to be, but the pain has been drastically reduced. I can live with this level of relief.

I am going to ask about the overall body shot, if not recommended I am going for the burst pack. I want to feel good....like the old days...pain free. I want to sleep for 4 consecutive hours without waking in pain and stiffness..

Thanks, Lisa

( Doc told me that the Bursa has the same fluid that our joints have and where ever the fluid is, inflammation can occur.....we have over 150 BURSAS IN THE BODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) YIKES.
