Cutting Back on Meds | Arthritis Information

My rheumy and I both feel it is time to try and reduce the amount of MTX I am taking. I really believe that switching to the injectable form has helped with this process. I was wondering if I should keep a symptom journal or something? The last time I tried to reduce my dosage I ended up back at his office for an emergency visit No answers for you...just wanted to say good luck and hope it works out for you without any pain!Good luck. Remember, you can even skip a couple weeks without the symptoms showing up right away, so it can be hard to figure out. I would just do it really slow and not make a new change until a month or two after the last change. If you are injecting, they do have measuring lines, so be sure to mark down the new measurements.

Good luckA journal is always a good idea, especially for us foggy minded folks!  I really hope it all works out for you, good luck!

I've been cutting down on my mtx really slowly. A couple of times I had to go back up but then later went down again, no problem. Usually I try the new dose for about 6 weeks and if it doesn't settle down by then I go up 2.5mg. Right now I am at 5mg but every day I have one problem joint so I might go back up for a while. Yes, a journal is very helpful. I use an excel chart. Good luck!
