I have been on here since September....never realized until I was viewing a old thread that this sight is infact HUGE!
I have always come straight to the message boards.

http://arthritisinsight.com/medical/disease/ra/

jeesh!...how did I miss it? When I found this place it was because I googled and someones thread came up...never went exploring...I will now.
This site has changed quite a bit since I first began coming here in 2002.  I think that was when I found it.  I was a forum member then, but lurked more than I posted.  In fact, most of what I know about RA I've learned here and from reading things here and there on the net.  This is a great place for folks like us...most of the time.
Bob
for information, you can't beat it..
it's message forum, however, leaves alot to be desired at times.  :(
the main site is woefully out of date.  It is full of broken links,  inadequate information.  For example on the medication page you find no information on any of the newer biologics. Tests and labs habve no informaiton on that anti ccp test.
The site has not been maintained since Ernest bought the site (surprise surprise).  Now there are much better sites http://arthritis.about.com/ for example for general patient oriented information

I haven't gotten that far Buckeye. I was just shocked to see it all there.

"Butter my Butt and call me a Biscuit"

I'm sorry, that just hit my tickle bone. It's too funny. I guess it's one I hadn't heard. Heh...

Yeah, well ever since you've come to this sight you been involved in one flame war after another, and then pretend you're an innocent victim.

Where there's smoke, there's fire.

I am the only one that notices both inflamedonline and Blessed are Jesus freaks named Lisa?

LOL.....................................................

Please....don't make me dig up all the "flame post" LONG before I got here....and who is Blessed?.......Oh wait I am...I am Blessed by my Lord Jesus Christ....

SomehowI dont think that is what you meant though.....

Oh and Lisa is such a "rare" name....Oh and ony BILLIONS of people follow Jesus Christ....Sheesh IO, do you ever shut up?

You always have to have the last word, talk about me!

And Moxy, wow, never considered Blessed, but I know she is in Texas, has a bunch of foster kids so probably does not have time to sit here 24/7 like IO does.

Oh, and IO, when do you work?lorster, IO doesn't know the meaning of the words shut up.  It's obvious we're all sick of her crap yet she continues.  And then the stories of her being a CEO of her own financial company...with her education?  I sincerely doubt it, she can't even spell correctly. She really sounds pathetic.  She starts crap on here and then plays the victim, "poor me doesn't have any friends in here".  She reminds me of mold & mildew, you hate them to appear in your shower and they just keep on coming back.  Where's my Tilex?I find it very hard to believe anyone would trust their finances to someone like inflamed, but if it is true, then what the hell are you doing farting around online all day every day, getting involved in every little internet argument? Is that really responsible considering the current financial turmoil?

(By the way, anyone can set up a little company in their basement and appoint themselves "CEO". It doesn't really mean anything. I would be more impressed if someone was the CEO of someone else's company)

I have owned and operated my own company for over 20 years. I have said in the past I work 3 days a week due to health related issues...really the place could and has and does run without me there on a day to day operation. I could tell Bob what the name of my Company is and he surely would of heard of it. We live in the same neck of the woods...and just so those who inquired...I am off until Jan 2, 2009...been off since Dec, 22.

Who said I invest others $$$$ for them gimmpy?, not sure where you got that ASSumption.

As everyone hear does so will I: I post where ever and when ever I want.

Are you passive aggressively trying to call me an ass? (So Christian of you, BTW).

At least show some cajones if you're going to start flinging poo, and just say it, instead of being all passive aggressive about it. There's far too much of that childish PA BS on this board already.lol...........Gimmpy have a Happy NewyearNew game. Everyone drinks every time Gimpy uses "passive aggressive" or "passive aggressively ". Heh...

Gimpy, had to do it. Sorry

BTW I don't think calling you an Ass on that one would qualify as subtle or passive aggressive... It's definitely agressive. Not much passive about that...
IO is a very poor example of a Christian and I sure hope that no one seeking Jesus looks to her for guidance!
New game. Everyone drinks every time Gimpy uses "passive aggressive" or "passive aggressively ". Heh...
No, it's agressive when you call someone an ass.

It's passive agressive when you write "not sure where you got that ASSumption." thereby calling someone an ass without having the guts to own that you're saying it.

I call out people for being passive aggressive all the time because it happens all the time and it't tiresome and hard to respect, which is exactly what you are as well.

ok....I feel a ASS makes an assumption about someones carreer when they have no clue, You were just being a "Hater"...

Now do you respect me?IO, NOBODY respects you in here.Gimpy, I am not passive agressive. I like to tease you because you're so easy and sometimes intellectually dishonest, so I go ahead and do it. If I really thought you were an Ass, I'd tell you. I'm not shy. Heh...Jose, I didn't say you were PA, I said you were tiresome and hard to respect. For someone who has "academia" and a "high IQ", as you calim to, you have a very tenous grasp on the English language.BTW, Jose, you don't "tease" me, and claiming you do IS passive aggressive. I think you actually find it hard to "win" an argument with facts and logic so you like to believe you are "yanking my chain" when really, I don't have a lot of respect for you or waste much time thinking about you. I certainly don't have any kind of emotional response to you.
New game. Everyone drinks every time Gimpy uses "passive aggressive" or "passive aggressively ". Heh...

Wait, Dalmatinka said the magic words. Do we drink??? I'm confused... I guess, we drink. When in doubt... Heh...Well I guess if we are passive, no, if we are agressive, heck yeah and if we are passive agressive I just don´t know

Enjoy your parties Jose!!  Sorry, don´t know how to put the accento (not sure if that is right) over your name From wikipedia:

There are certain behaviors that help identify passive-aggressive behavior. [2]
Ambiguity
Avoiding responsibility by claiming forgetfulness
Blaming others
Chronic lateness and forgetfulness
Complaining
Does not express hostility or anger openly (e.g., expresses it instead by leaving notes)
Fear of authority
Fear of competition
Fear of dependency
Fear of intimacy (infidelity as a means to act out anger): The passive aggressive often can't trust. Because of this, they guard themselves against becoming intimately attached to someone.
Fosters chaos
Intentional inefficiency
Making excuses
Losing things
Lying
Obstructionism
Procrastination
Resentment
Resists suggestions from others
Sarcasm
Stubbornness
Sullenness
Willful withholding of understanding
A passive-aggressive person may not have all of these behaviors, and may have other non-passive-aggressive traits.

ah.. lorster... good definition...

you may wish to define Gimpy's other favorite phrase:  straw dogs isn't it/?

Well, the 2 behaviours go hand in hand, so I'm just calling it like I see, it, Babs.

For instance, I recently had a debate with Jose over my statement "Babs supports Bush, Bush's policies in Iraq and Afghanistan are violent, therefore Babs supports violence".

Jose (and yourself) claimed that was faulty logic. When I asked him and you to explain how, somehow instead of doing that he turned it into a;) some wars are necessary, and b:0 he didn't like my character and exposed all the flaws he perceived.

Both of you were satisfied that that somehow answered the question of how is ""Babs supports Bush, Bush's policies in Iraq and Afghanistan are violent, therefore Babs supports violence" faulty logic?

But he hadn't answered that at all. Instead he had made up a new question, attributed (falsely) that my stance was "no war is necessary" and answered that. That's a classic straw dog argument.

So if you're doing it, I', going to say it. You don't want to hear it? Don't do it.

Seems simple.

Oh, and in case you're confused, Babs:
A straw man argument is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position.[1] To "set up a straw man," one describes a position that superficially resembles an opponent's actual view, yet is easier to refute. Then, one attributes that position to the opponent. For example, someone might deliberately overstate the opponent's position.[1] While a straw man argument may work as a rhetorical technique—and succeed in persuading people—it carries little or no real evidential weight, since the opponent's actual argument has not been refuted.[2]
The term is derived from the practice in ages past of using human-shaped straw dummies in combat training. In such training, a scarecrow is made in the image of the enemy, sometimes dressed in an enemy uniform or decorated in some way to vaguely resemble them. A trainee then attacks the dummy with a weapon such as a sword, club, bow or musket. Such a target is, naturally, immobile and does not fight back, and is therefore not a realistic test of skill compared to a live and armed opponent. It is occasionally called a straw dog fallacy, scarecrow argument, "straw person", or wooden dummy argument.[citation needed] In the UK, it is sometimes called Aunt Sally, with reference to a traditional fairground game.

yes. faulty "logic" is right:
Let's just do a slight substitution to show how ridiculous your comments are, shall we?
You said:
"Babs supports Bush, Bush's policies in Iraq and Afghanistan are violent, therefore Babs supports violence"

ok...
Red equals blue....  blue is a color... therefore all colors are RED.

What you stated about me was not true. it is a false analogy...
for your repertoire:  False Analogy: In this technique, two things that may or may not really be similar are portrayed as being similar. When examining the comparison, you must ask yourself how similar the items are. In most false analogies, there is simply not enough evidence available to support the comparison.

and I know a strawman argument.. YOU are the one who ultimately uses the strawman argument... RE-READ your OWN definition and see that your ILLOGICAL comment about Babs/Bush/Violence is EXACTLY a strawman argument.

and you use it as your defense every time you post something IF you don't use the Passive Agressive comments...  very wrong.. and very predictable....

Now.. if you'd like to continue to have a battle of wits... you need to become armed..  I'm tired of your childish behavior... irrational thought process...and repetitive bullsh*t...
Happy New Year

Love it...
How about:

2 + 2 = 4  and 4 is a number so all numbers added will always = 4 Well, Bush's policies aren't colours. You vote for Bush, that enables him to use violence, therefore, you support violence. I still don't see the flaws in the logic.
You're "honest" and rude. That's such a cop-out---we can all be "honest" but that's not a blanket excuse for poor behaviour.

So if you're so interested in being "honest", maybe stop pretending you don't support violence when you actively support someone who unleashed a world of violence on countless victims.

Nothing would please me more for than for you to be "done"...in fact, it was so tiresome how you "began" in the first place.

I didn't say you were or were not PA.  Just saying that like EVERYONE ELSE, you have some quirks of your own.

*waves hand in air*  Here! Here! I'm quirky and proud!!

Did everyone have a wonderful NY celebration? We were rebels and rocked it out.....  ok, so we were in bed before 10pm. LOL  The Roses parade this morning was amazing! They even had a float with a pool in it and people were diving in and doing flips and belly flops. I think it just gets more awesome each year.

Hope you are all having a superfantastic and extra-comfortable evening. quirk;

I always squeeze the toothpaste from the bottom of the tube.....hubby doesn'tUGH! And then when you go to brush your teeth you have to mash it all back to the top cause he's squished it at the middle!! On days when my hand hurts I seriously think about throwing the tube... but that's not gonna wash the butter off my teeth. LOLOk Jas, that is totally PA according to the definition.   You said......

No, I have as many faults as anyone else does. I'm not perfect. And that is not what this is all about. Its about being pathological.

Also, we are never allowed to call our patients hon, sweety, or any other term like that because it is considered disrespectful and condescending.
No, I have as many faults as anyone else does. I'm not perfect. And that is not what this is all about. Its about being pathological.

since I won't waste time looking for this "other thread"  you could be so kind as to link it, I'd appreciate it so then I may see what you are alluding to.

I wasn't being PA w/ the straw man comment.. I honestly (RA brain) could not remember what it was called....  and I didn't care enough to search for the term... and it WAS a good definition of PA... why you have to feel so defensive when someone actually gives you a positive comment??  sheesh... but I shouldn't have been surprised since you can take anything said and twist it to your preferred reference... go right ahead...  I could care less.

If I am aggressive.....  I'm definitely not passive..

It's not worth it Babs....Lorster just yammers because she gets "bored".

Hey Gimpy,

A father dies and leaves the mother and daughter all alone.  The daughter does all she can to support her mother.  She cleans the house, does the dishes, etc.  One day after work, the mother stops with some friends for dinner and drinks.  She gets a little too drunk but believes she's sober enough to drive.  On the trip home, she crosses the yellow line and hits another car head-on killing the occupants inside.

Does the daughter support killing people?

What does that have to do with bush/iraq/violence?   Man, I'm confused about this one kweenb.
It's a shame that they haven't updated this site...
Glad you like the info I post Babs
Hey Gimpy,
Gee KweenB, does the daughter spend 8 years actively and consciously encouraging and enabling the mother to drink and drive?

Was Babs drunk for 8 years? Is Babs unaware that Bush is using his Presidency to wage war.

Is the war accidental?

How is that even by any of the strech of the imagination an parallel anolgy

Presumably Babs is sober and aware of what is going on in the Middle East, and has 8 years to witness the consequences of her decision to support Bush and his policies, but ratehr than "take away the car keys" from the "drunk Mother" she buys "gas for the car" and makes up a bunch of noble excuses why the Mother has to drink and drive, and if some people get killed, well, that's just "collateral damage". So in Babs case I think the Babs encourages "drunk driving regardless of people getting killed".

Yes, what is the argument? According to Babs saying "Red equals blue.... blue is a color... therefore all colors are RED" proved that "Babs supports Bush, Bush's policies in Iraq and Afghanistan are violent, therefore Babs supports violence." is not true. Now if I say "Red is a colour, the apple is red, therefore the apple is coloured"I guess by Babs "logic" that proves that "Babs supports Bush, Bush's policies in Iraq and Afghanistan are violent, therefore Babs supports violence." is true.

But really none of it has anything to do with "Babs supports Bush, Bush's policies in Iraq and Afghanistan are violent, therefore Babs supports violence."

I don't care if that doesn't fit into Babs idea of herself as not supporting violence, Babs supports violence in a very direct way. Violence is the actual, predictable, and foreseeable results of her support of Bush. Babs is responsible, in part, for the deaths that have occurred because of Bush.

Bash me all you want, it won't change the truth.
Gimpy-a-gogo2009-01-02 10:28:27Gimpy:   be careful, I may act on my violent nature all over you!       a thought which is as humorous as your posts!!! I am seriously LMAO here.

Wow, trying to belittle me and calling my post "crap" really revealed the supposed "flaws" in the logic.

Babs, if you could expose flaws in that logic you know you would in heart beat, but since there are none and you can't I guess you're reduced to your usual back up; being rude.

Yep, you really showed me. no.. Gimp... It's like beating my head against a wall.. YOU cannot see the error of your ways... the rest of the world sees the colors... you.. see black and white......  Think of what a shame that is....
you continue to feel the need to repeat the same things over and over elaborating on the illusion you've built ........  knock yourself out...
please...
save me the efforts with my violence....
no.. Gimp... the rest of the world sees the colors... you.. see black and white......

Actually, Gimpy sees the colors of the world and babs, you will only look at black and white. But, please take responsibility for the part each of you played in getting him elected. What he has done is beyond my ability to comprehend. It will take many years to repair the damage done by him and his administration. Shame on him for what he has done.

Gimpy, I honestly believe that some of these people are truly ashamed of themselves for voting for him but for some reason, they continue to defend him. Maybe it is out of guilt because deep down, they know they play a part in the Iraq disaster.Gimpy,

Do you support people's right to choose the religion they practice regardless of what that religion is?

Babs, who was trash talking religion? Was this question for me?Lorster, I'm curious about your question and Kweenb's ... I am christian. I support everyone's right to believe and/or not believe whatever they want. As well as associate with whatever and whomever they wish, so long as it doesn't infringe upon anybody's right to do the same... I was brought up Catholic. I was a Catholic Youth Minister, I taught math/algebra at a Jewish middle school. Tutored at a Jewish High School. I have friends that range from agnostic, to deeply religious in quite a few different religions. I believe that to be a very personal matter and I have never tried to convert anyone to anything.... Huh??
Furthermore, I totally respect your right to believe and anyone elses right to believe. I also believe, just don't reveal my particular beliefs to anyone. I don't wear what I believe on my sleeve and I don't group people based on who or what they believe in. What bothers me about any religion is when someone USES their religion to position themselves. We are all human first. I just don't appreciate that holier than thou attitude that some forum members display on here....like it somehow makes them a better human. When the day is done, they are still a human, capable of making mistakes.

I never trashed anyones religion, nor would I. Lorster, I wasn't taking anyone "to task". I was curious. I have never seen you bash anyone for their beliefs. I also believe that religion is a deeply personal thing. I am not shy when asked but I do not push it on anyone. Even when I was a Youth minister, I had a bunch of teenage kids that joined my program for the fun activities. They were never pushed to go beyond that. I believe it to be rude and inexcusable.... Anyway, you're ok by me
now  you want to trash talk to someone about their religion?  and their beliefs?

I don't know who you're refering to, you adult, but it was KweenB who brought up religion. I haven't made a single reference to it.

I thought you were done with all this. That lasted a couple of hours.
Hell and i thought RA was a confusing disease.....tuned into this thread and im more confused than ever
I'm with you.  Nice to know that we're starting the new year the same way we ended the old one..........
Loser,
Leave me out of your petty bullsh*t fights.
Lorster, I'm curious about your question and Kweenb's ... So I am curious where you guys were going with this line???...
Jose, I am a Christian and I believe what you said in your post.

I was just hoping Gimpy would answer the question.  I was going to give her another analogy, but she isn't playing.
