Bayer sues Abbott, alleging patent infringement
By LINDA A. JOHNSON – 21 hours ago
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Pharmaceutical and chemical maker Bayer AG has filed a federal lawsuit alleging that drugmaker Abbott Laboratories' best-selling drug, Humira, infringes on a decade-old Bayer patent.
The German company's Bayer HealthCare LLC unit sued Abbott and two of its subsidiaries, claiming the popular biotech drug used to treat severe types of arthritis and other immune disorders infringes on the U.S. patent that Bayer was awarded in 1997.
Bayer's lawsuit was filed six years after Humira was approved for U.S. sales — and in the plaintiff-friendly U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The lawsuit seeks triple damages for past and future patent infringement, attorney fees and other relief, but does not seek to halt sales of Humira.
Humira, which is injected, is Abbott's top revenue driver, with sales jumping 50 percent to .2 billion in the third quarter. In October, the company boosted its forecast for full-year sales to .4 billion.
Bayer does not have any products that compete with Humira, according to spokeswoman Marcy Funk.
Heroin is a very effective analgesic, of course with great potential for addiction and misuse.  I believe it is still legally prescribed in Great Britain.  Some say it offers analgesia equal to or better than morphine but is less sedating.

Bayer also brought us the wonder drug Aspirin.
Ever take Dilaudid?  Closest thing to taking heroin you can get without all that back alley shady drug dealer thing.  Seriously when I was in the hospital with shingles...that stuff killed the pain quick, fast and in a hurry.  Nice warm feeling all over too.  Good stuff..but rather habit forming.  (dilaudid that is, heroin sucks)Dilaudid is the drug everyone wants when they come to the hospital. It is a great pain reliever. It is the one I prefer.I can see why.  It's REALLY effective.  Instant pain relief.  My only issue was that it wore off really fast with me for some reason.  But as soon as it was pushed into my IV, instant numbness.  When the doc came back and asked how I felt I said "groovy man."   Great stuff...wish I had some now man I'm in pain.  My pcp won't even give me lortabs we have too many people here in WV that get pain pills and sell them or abuse them.  They mess it up for those that need them.

I just finished reading the article this topic is about.  Drug companies..you just have to love them Bob, why don't you ask your doctor to give you oral dilaudid. it is a great pain reliever The oral would last much longer than the iv dose does. If you are having severe pain, you need something.   At least you know the dilaudid works on you. Bob, we live close by to each other. I would not go to a doctor that wouldn't treat my pain. My family physican gives me the pain meds I need, although Dr. Rosian and Dr. Herriotte have all offered, but I have Dr. Watson (in Ohio.. family doc) he is new. My old doc stopped his  familypractice and went to Med express...
Bayer is the company that unleashed Betaseron......

So glad they did.....
I had no idea dilaudid came in pill form.  Are they that much more addictive than lortab or oxy?  More curious than anything right now.  My pain is usually under relative control with my remicade and some vicodin but when I get one of my real nasty migraines, its always off to the hopsital for a couple of iv doses of dilaudid with phenerghan and benadryl.  It would be nice to have a few of those pills on hand to avoid the trip to the ER.
