TB and Enbrel | Arthritis Information

Hi Everyone,

So I may be starting a job in the next few weeks, and one of the requirements is that I pass a TB test.  While I don't cough at all, it is in the back of my mind that TB is a risk of Enbrel.

I have been on Enbrel since March '08.  Does anyone know if Enbrel can create a false positive?  This job would involve a big move, and I would not get the TB test done until after I have moved.  Does anyone know if I could get a TB test to make sure I'm ok, and then another one in 2 1/2 weeks w/out it affecting the 2nd test results?

Nori

if your test was negative before you started the enbrel it will still be negative unless you have been exposed to TB in the meantime

Your dr can perform the test or the city health dept.
buckeye2009-01-02 11:16:45False positives are a possibility with any TB test -- but if you have a positive (false or not) they will routinely do a chest x-ray to rule out TB. I wouldn't advise getting two tb tests that close together.Thank you for the advice.  Hopefully it will work out.
