Award-winning film Kilowatt Ours: A Plan to Re-Energize America is a timely, solutions-oriented look at one of America’s most pressing environmental challenges: energy.

Filmmaker Jeff Barrie offers hope as he turns the camera on himself and asks, “How can I make a difference?” In his journey Barrie explores the source of our electricity and the problems caused by energy production including mountain top removal, childhood asthma and global warming. Along the way he encounters individuals, businesses, organizations, and communities who are leading the way, using energy conservation, efficiency and renewable, green power all while saving money and the environment.

I just showed this movie right before break. My physcial science class is studying energy/matter. I found this film in the back part of my classroom(new school/room, still finding things).  It wasn't even out of its packaging.

Really good film.  The kids really liked it as well.  Does make you think....
In Tennessee last week, there was a  massive spill of over one billion gallons of toxic coal ash next to a coal-burning steam plant. The sludge spilled out of a coal plant retention pond, burying homes and roads. It is believed to be the largest coal ash disaster in US history.

This film talks about the issues with coal burning plants and steps, everyone, from businesses, government, individuals can take to conserve energy and use alternative sources of energy, saving money and saving the environment
.
My husband was just watching something on TV about homes being built in Germany. These homes do not have any furnaces and I guess are sealed in such a way that furnaces are not needed. It uses some sort of air exchange system. It is exciting to read and watch the new developments in energy.
