Should I change meds. | Arthritis Information

_popupControl(); I was diagnosed with RA in 03.  In 05 I had a TKR (right knee) mostly OA damage little RA damage. In Nov 08 I had a second TKR mostly RA damage (left knee).  In the past 14 months my sed rate has gone from 14 to 95.  In the past 4 months I have become moderately anemic and my platelet count is high.  My wrists have become damaged from RA during this period; limited mobility and moderate pain.

I take enbrel (once a week since 04), MTX 17.5 mg (once a week), 500 mg Naproxen and 2 mg of methylprednisone plus folic acid (every day).

Also, even though my sed rate is high my CRP is low; my doctor has no explanation.  Anyone have the same combination of results?

I don't think my meds are working.

Should I talk to my doctor about either increasing my enbrel or change to humira?  I nervous about the sed rate which seems to indicate my RA is active and may be doing damage that we can't see and I'm not happy that I'm anemic.

Thank you for reading my post I appreciate it.
Hello,
Welcome to the board.

I am not sure if you should change your meds or not, but talking it over with your Doctor sounds reasonable. I would be concerned with any damage! I am newly Dx, so I do not know all the ins and outs, but I am sure someone with more experience will offer you suggestions, Wish you luck.

Even though I was diagnosed in 03; except for my doctor I haven't been able to find any support group in my area; I live on the south shore of Massachusetts.  I haven't spoken to many people who have RA.  I'm hoping the internet will be a way to get a perspective.

Thank you for answering my post. _popupControl();
Hi ElizS..
This is a good source of information by virtue of the numbers of members and vast experiences...
I hope someone has some great info for you.
I would say that definitely meeting w/ your RD and discussing this is tantamount to finding a solution that works.. Did enbrel ever work very well?
good luck
