from the day i got this disease i have never been pain free.  now sometimes are better than other times and sometimes are horrible.  but my question is do you actually have weeks or days or months where you have no pain at all?   wonderwomanYes, I had absolutely painfree days. ;) Today I have very very little stiffness in some knuckles. If you want, you can search my posts, there aren't many. But I guess I am extremely fortunate.

Miruna

No, not yet.

But, I plan on...maybe tomorrow...or the next day....

Let's plan for it together...I am sorry you have chronic pain with no total relief. I just got dx a few months ago, but have been having pain for a long time.

Some Days have been better, some worse, the other day I had a really good morning, by afternoon.....

I am finding the only thing that is predictable with RA is there is vast swings in pain and stiffness. Take Care, tomorrow holds promise.

Yes. I've had many pain free days since I started taking Minocin, and this summer I was completely pain free for 3 coonsecutive months. It is possible. Not here unfortunately, but I must say that sometimes it is hard to tell which arthritis it is coming from or what other condition may be causing certain nerve pain, spine pain etc, so yes unfortunately it's pain for me 24/7, my GP says it doesn't matter where the pain is coming from the RA would have been the original culprit!  Not nice, hugs Janie.  It sure would be nice Miruna to be painfree. Nope, after a bit more than 2 years, haven't had a pain free day.  25 MTX, Prednisone, Humira and now Enbrel.  Switching to infusion therapy next office visit.  He wants to go over all of the risks with each one to decide Orencia or Remicade. No, sure haven't -- the good days just are becoming a bit more infrequent.
No pain free days for me, yet anyway.
from the day i got this disease i have never been pain free.  now sometimes are better than other times and sometimes are horrible.  but my question is do you actually have weeks or days or months where you have no pain at all?   wonderwoman
The only pain I have now is from the damage I have in my shoulder, ankle and hip.  I don't have any RA pain at all.................I intend to have surgery on my shoulder and then ankle this year to take care of those problems.
Yes I have been pain free after I had started Enbrel. Although I still suffer some pain on occasion, mainly in the fall/winter (like now).   I have been off work on vacation the last two weeks and I definitely notice the pain has been worse.

It is sometimes hard to tell what type of pain this is...RA, bursitis, tendonitis and now I wonder about osteoarthritis. Ahhh.... Getting older doesn't get any better than this!I have pain free days even had a couple pain free months, but then there have been days and weeks where I could barely move. It depends on my stress level, the season(winter, spring summer or fall), whether the meds need to be adjusted so forth. Some day are better than others and some are worse than others. meme I don't have pain every day, but I do have what I call discomfort where some joint doesn't want to move or my legs/back/feet/hands will ache and throb.  I don't really think of this as pain though.  The fatigue is the worst thing for me.  In the early years of RA I was still able to work with a lot of rest during times off, but had to retire on disability when the fatigue  finally got to me.

I think after a while you change your opinion of what pain free is. For me I don't have days that are 100% pain free but when you've had REALLY bad days you begin to ignore some pain and consider it normal. I guess you accept certain things. I do extremely well and consider myself lucky.....but have very few days where I'm "pain free" totally. Most definitely!  Pain-free has been the norm for me for almost a year now.  On those occasions when pain pops up, it is almost always due to my stupid human tricks - moving heavy computer equipment at work, ice skating, tripping over the cat and crashing into the end table, etc.when I was on Enbrel, before it pooped out I had about 3 pain free months. I was amazed. I felt so good, and I did so much..
I havent  had a completely pain free day since then.. about 39 months now.. I do have some  fairly good days, but by 5 pm the pain is back.. and its bad.
_popupControl(); Hello

I have good and better days.  The pain and fatique are always there but some days I barely notice.  Those days I try enjoy the freedom but not overdue because I know I'll pay for it the next day.  I try to pace myself.

Best Wishes
Since I started Enbrel last year, I very seldom have bad days.  Well, bad days from RA, anyway.I have discomfort more than pain I would say but it's been every day. Last time I was pain free I was on 15 mgs of prednisone. I've had some days of feeling pretty well. When I first started enbrel.....it was great. Now I feel decent and try to do things around the house then I over do it and end up feeling it and paying for it for a few days. I recently started having new parts of my body joining the party and now I wonder if the enbrel is working. ?????
I hope every one feels better and for a long time!
Someday, I am hopeful, we will cure this disease!

lynn,
What kind of shoulder surgery? I had pins put in to repair a torn rotator cuff. It was top shelf pain and slow recovery. I worked really hard in PT. I had somethng like 38 visits. Surgery was in March and my last PT was in late June, early July. Funny at the time I thought I would never forget the details, time has a way of blurring the edges of my memory.
I haven't been completely pain free but it's been pretty good.  I have had JRA since I was 9 years old and actually had a period of about 12 years remission where all I took for it was an NSAID.  Then a small flare in 2001 and I had to re-start MTX with Enbrel and also took some prednisone but only 5mg daily.  I managed pretty well on this combo through 2007 when Enbrel stopped working as well and I was switched to Remicade.  It didn't work out so well for me and I've been in the worst flare probably since the disease onset as a child.  I used to have LOADS of pain in my hips, until I had them replaced.  I still get a good bit of stiffness and some pain in the total hip replacements but this is normal.  They can relpace the bone, but RA not only affects the joints it attacks the connective tissue around them as well.  So much for no more hip pain!
