Hi all! I forgot to get my pain meds filled and My RA is out of control today, If I went to the hosptial would they be able to help me..Perhaps they could give you pain killer or something? an injection?Maybe try your pharmacist...I know mine has given me enough to get me by until we can get a hold of my doctor. As long as it's medication that you've been using on a regular basis.
An ER visit is expensive....unless there's no other option I'd avoid it. I'd try the pharmacist like Kelstev suggested. Mine would do it; but I'm a regular customer too and he knows me and my medical history. I'm not sure all would do that.

I would call my nurse at my Rheumy's office and she would most likely try and see if they could fit me in. My doctor would them give me those awesome shots in the butt. I think it is prednisone but I am not sure. All I know is that it takes away some of the swelling and pain, and makes me feel like I am on caffeine for a day or two!Ya know, I was out of MTX once on a Saturday (When I realized) and I needed to take my dose that evening. There is always someone on call at my RD's office. I left a message for the doctor on call and with in one hour he called me back to tell me he'd called it in.
Double check....I'm like butterfly, I've never been to the ER in the entire 12 years I've had RA. (Knocking on wood)
Before I knew I had RA I had a bad flare and after several days of running a temp and hurting so bad I went to the ER. I might as well stayed home. They couldnt figure out what was wrong with me. They sent me home with an antibiotic. LOL.....

I went to Er 4x once for chest pains that was pluersy and they gave me stuff. second time for pain with a flare so bad in my knee my pain meds did nothing . they did not help me third time for a migraine and a flare they gave me pain meds and nausea stuff. Last weekend a bad flare with a bad migraine and chestpains went in a abulance my toes were tingling too they checked my heart gave me pain meds and a iv all the visits I was sent home after they got control of the pain.................TERESA
