Hey all, it has been awhile since I have been here other than peaking.  I am doing fairly well.  At least I am with a doctor who listens now.  Two months ago at my appointment I was on top of the world.  I was doing so great, feeling pretty darn well.  Right after that appointment things started going downhill.  So today was my two month appointment ( I am on the two month variety right now), and I took my list of symptoms in…

Morning stiffness back to being terrible taking an hour plus to really feel human.

Cramping in hands, feet and legs

Hands just ache all the time.  Hard to do anything.

Very fatigued, back to falling asleep at the drop of a hat.

Walking into stores, around stores, up and down my stairs etc causes my knees to hurt.

Skin feels so tight on my hands and feet.  Can’t put my hands straight, feels like the skin is going to tear.

Joint randomly go out.  Elbow or knee, Can’t walk for a couple of hours, heat seems to help.

Vision feels blurred but it checks out normal, but at times reading gives me such a headache and the sun seems to give me headaches.

Muscle spasms in my legs and arms

She read my complaints then examined me and said she agreed that I am much more swollen and tender than two months ago.  She didn’t know way but said we could do one of two things.  Up the Metho or add a new drug.  We opted to up the Methotrexate from .6 to .8 subq.  She also suggested adding B12vitamin for the muscle cramps and heat of course.  Didn’t really say much about the headaches.  I did go and have an eye exam and everything checked out just fine so I am not sure what is going on with the headaches.  When I get in the sunlight it seems to set off a headache and reading, those two for sure.  I just take Tylenol for the pain and if it gets too bad my heavier stuff.

I continue to feel sick on Sunday’s with taking the Metho Saturday nights but have decided it is worth it to feel so much better the other six days of the week and my hubby is agreeing with that.  I am of course a bit nervous about this increase but here we go.

My husband got me a cruise for Christmas so we will be heading for warmer weather on the 23rd.  We are going on a Western Caribbean.  I am so excited.

Sorry you've not been doing so well lately.  Maybe the increase of mtx will help a bit.  The cruise sounds fun!  That might help huh?

Feel better soon!
The warm weather should do you good- enjoy!  Metho dose still sounds low considering your symptoms. loto - good to see you posting again - its tough getting your meds right for you, hang in there.  Welcome back...sorry you aren't feeling well but that's one heck of a christmas present!
Think of all of us freezing our butts while you're enjoying the nice caribbean climate.
(watch out for pirates...ok, I know...bad joke)
Bob
hey.. good to see you!

I'm w/ wantto.. seems like you're still on the low end of MTX considering how you're feeling.. and I'm surprised your RD isn't prescribing something besides tylenol for your pain..

goodluck.. enjoy the trip.
I do have Dilaudid for my pain but try to stick to Tylenol if I can.  What is a typical dose of Metho?  What are all of you on?  Been a long hard day and I just took 4mg Dilaudid and 10mg of Flexiril.  So hopefully I will be in la la land soon.

See this is why I have to come have you guys tell me what's what...

I take 8 -2.5 mg pills on Saturday........ I am on 6 2.5 mg pills weekly- going up to 8 in two weeks.  I had to go off for 3 weeks for a dental infection so the doctor said take my 6 for two weeks to get adjusted and then go up to 8. I had found I had increasing pain on just 6. After feeling as I do being off the MTX...I'm wondering if I'll feel good again when the 6 kicks in. Just took them yesterday. So I am on about the same as you guys.  I am on the equevelant of 8 pills.  I just switched to .8 subq injection.  which is 20mg of mtx or 8 2.5mg pills weekly.

So are you guys not having any side effects?  Gosh I do my injection on Saturday evening and then I am good for nothing on Sunday's.  When I was doing the pills it was so bad I had to take anti nausea medication but that medication knocked me out too so I was still good for nothing.  Now on the injection of .6 (6/2.5 pills) I feel vary fatigued and just don't feel good. The nausea is nausea, makes you feel yucky, don't actually throw up.

wantto - when you went off of the metho for the dental infection how long did it take before you started feeling like crap again?
Loto- I do very well on MTX when it comes to side effects. They worked me up to where I am now gradually but other than feeling extra tired for a few days after I take it I can't complain. I never had any nausea.

I missed that yours was by injection first post. I think you can go up to 25 with the injection though- right? Maybe they need to add another drug to your mix?

It took a good two weeks for me to start feeling crappy and then it rapidly increased. I was only off a total of 3 weeks. Now I'm wondering how long it will take to feel "good" again. I actually have swelling and constant stiffness in my hands and wrists which I have not had for a long long time.
I was doing well and then started doing poorly and my doctor acted by uping the Metho so I think we are on the right track just of course takes time.  O what fun that is to wait.

Hope you start feeling "good" soon!
