That 3:30 PM Feeling | Arthritis Information

I know i am not alone in really saging when it gets to 3-3:30 in the afternoon.

What do YOU do to get over that.

Thanks

I usually get stiff at 4PM. Sometimes if I need it, I will just take a little power nap in the afternoon.

Been feeling it all day myself...A: It's Monday after a LONG weekend and B: It's a rainy messy good nap day!!

I've wanted to lay my head down on my desk all day!!

I get very very slow in the middle of the afternoon.  There are many of us that do.

I don't want coffee, soda or chocolate for pretty obvious reasons.

I am desperate for ideas how to get past that feeling.  I know that a walk outside helps.  BUT not all companies allow that.  as for the power nap even fewer companies allow that.

I am contract employment at the moment, and only do 4 days a week, and make it through. BUT i need to give permanent 40 hours a week employment a big try.  I AM NOT READY FOR DISABILITY.  this involves a relocation from a major metropolitan city (Houston) to a smaller town, big move for my familly.  and so i have a lot riding on this, and i need to be effective in that middle of the afternoon timeframe.

I would love real helpful comment as to how WOKING people get through that mid afternoon lul.

I do not want to offend anyone, but this is a serious iisue for me, and i know i am not the only one with this issue.

sorry for the lecture.  I just need helpful advise

Thanks

Richard

Richard,

Could you possibly take a 15 minute break at around that time to do some stretching, or some deep breathing? When i get really tired at work (which is frequently) i have to sit and just do some deep breathing and try to reconnect with my body> this does not always work. Also, maybe some green, mint tea and a big glass of cold refreshing water could help? Also, maybe try some marching in place or some arm swinging or something to get your heart rate up...sort of a re-energy charge.

Also, I am wondering if you could negotiate your lunch break and instead of taking an hour for lunch (if you get one), take a half hour at lunch time and another half hour at around 3:00 to go sit in your car our the staff lounge our somewhere and decompress? What about energy bars? I have been eating almonds throughout the day as energy boosters, although i cannot say if it works, but i have heard from others that they do.

Just some suggestions. I do feel your pain. I canNOT go on disability as we would have to sell our home and move in with my parents, so i am always looking for suggestions too. Good luck to you.

NYALI38684.7906365741I second the suggestion for moving breaks around.  Research the state laws - most have rules around hourly employees receiving certain minimum amounts of time for breaks during the day.  Usually 2 15 minute breaks and 1 half hour lunch.  Take some time midafternoon to go and snooze a little on your own.  Also maybe try bringing some type of juice to work with you and drinking it around them, to get your blood sugar back up and your energy back.

Yes, they do have laws that state that you can have 2 /15 minute breaks a day when working 8 hours or more a day.

When I am busy at the computer at that time of the day (3:30-4:30 pm)...I push my chair back do some breathing exercising or try to a do a few excercises while sitting in my chair or using my chair while doing a few squats ( when my legs allow me to) to get the blood circulating.

I can not understand why a superior would look down on you if the exercising helps you to maintain a better work load.  Seems to me that a few minutes of regeneration is better than having someone half asleep in the office...

Here are some links you may want to look at.  I hope they help you.

Are you Anemic?  If you are or do not know...tell your doctor what is happening and have a blood test done to see if you are.  I am sure there are things they can do for Anemia.  There might even be a physical reason for the extreme fatigue besides having RA

Orange Juice will work for a quick solution but make sure it's sugar free.  As the sugar content will give you the quick fix you need but in 45 minutes you will be in worse shape than before you took it.

Good Luck Richard.

I have the same problem  And it seems to get progressively worse as the week goes on.  By Friday I am like a zombie.  I must admit I go and wash my face in the toilets it wakes me up enough to make it through 'til 4pm.
