Another New Drug Allergy - AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH | Arthritis Information

Hi guys, yes it's me again.

Quietly started new course of antibiotics on Friday, Erythromycin and Metronidazole.  Felt like I was getting a sore throat, then this am, had what the Dr called pedicules all over the roof of my mouth and annoying itchiness all over my body!  My throat was very sore when I was eating and felt what I can only call scratchy, then my throat started to tighten, I took an antihistamine and had already taken my pred so pharmacist said this was very good or it could have been worse.  These antibiotics were for helicobactor- pylori so now I have to wait and see if  I can start my new Rituxan, GP said should be ok, but I am awaiting for Rheumy to ring to see if I can still have it.  As usual nothing is easy.

I am now allergic to four antibiotics, including penicillin and clarythromycin.  My GP thinks I am taking so many tablets that it could just be medicines interacting but she said she won't take any chances.

Hugs Janie. What are they going to do about the H Pylori, Janie?

Hugs and good luck overcoming the abx allergies?

Hugs Janie.

I feel your pain.  I am allergic to penicillin and also have a sulfa allergy.  On top of that, I won't take Levaquin because I suffered a tendon rupture while I was on it.  It does get frustrating.........

Thanks Lyn and Pip.  Pip, my GP doesn't think it is that much of an issue as the Pylori was not visual, it was found when testing a sample biopsy, so she said she thinks it is the MTX making me sick all the time and that the Pylori, over 90% of people have traces in their tummies, she feels my RD is being extra cautious due to all my reactions to different drugs!  I don't know what to do, hopefully will hear form my Rheumy tonight.  Cheers again, hugs Janie. I'm sorry, Janie!  I am sorry, Janie. I hope you get to start Rituxan soon.
