chronic osteoarthritis | Arthritis Information

Hi, I actually work as a carer in the UK and recently found part time work for a man who claimed to have chronic osteoarthritis that resulted from a car accident. The position involved helping him when he came to town on business - getting undressed and dressed, showering and some massage. When I came help him, he explained to me that massage was very important, which I understood. However when it came to the massage, he seemed soley focused on the buttocks, groin and anal area. I found this quite unexpected and uncomfortable... as a female alone in a hotel with this man. I understand you can have arthritis in the hip... but around the anus??

When i queried that i thought mostly bones - joints were affected... He said it helped the muscles in that region, but i didn't and still don't feel convinced.

He has trouble using his hands and his legs were painful - but almost all the massage centred around this region mentioned above.

I got the feeling he enjoyed being "helpless"... and a couple of times said "I'm like a baby". Maybe he has some kind of fetish for being looked after.

????

I haven't found any other info on the net about this... and although my gut feeling says to run... I also don't want to treat anyone unjustly.

Can anyone help me out with their own experience with osteoarthritis??

thanks...

a now rather put-off carer

If I was you, I would not take care of that man anymore. Massage in those areas are inapproriate.

Gotta agree with Lesle.....sounds a little perverted to me.

Definately not a safe enviroment for a lady alone. I sure wouldn't do it.
