OT Jet tub question | Arthritis Information

There is the smell of mildew coming from my jet tube when I turn on the jets. I have tried clorox and run it through the jets in very hot water several times and also used vinegar with no success. Any ideas. perhaps it's not in the jets per se..... but behind the tub.. can you get into the beneath part?  I can crawl (well someone can crawl LOL) into the service door from my closet... maybe it's musty/mildewy in there??

get one of those things.. it absorbs moisture in the air w/ a charcoal filter (I don't know what it is called!!) and put that in the space underneath.
Have you tried Clorox plus Cascade powder?  That's what my tub instructions said to clean with.  3 cups of bleach, 2 cups of Cascade powder, warm water, let it run for 20 minutes or so.

I also use this from time to time:

It seems to get out some nasty gunk, especially after I've run scented bath salts in the tub.
OMG, it says you should clean monthly. I have never cleaned anything but that little filter. This tub is 7 years old. Thanks jas, hopefully it will work. You might have to do it a few times.  Between the Cascade (mild abrasive) and the spa flush (enzymatic cleaners) you should be able to bust it loose.  Just don't put the spa flush in at the same time as the cascade/bleach.Make sure the pump is higher than the suction thst sits in the tub at the bottom. If the pump is lower then it's holding water and will get stagnant and cause problems like that. other then that just look in the owners manual and see. Some bleaches may be too strong for the plastic parts inside the pump. If you don't have the owners manual check for it online or call your local plumber.I would run it with white vinegar and very hot water. Vinegar is a great deoderizor once you get past the smell of vinegar. coming back.. thinking maybe the chlorine or non-chlorine swimming pool products would work.. many parts of pool filters are plastic so they must be safe.... and they definitely give a better smell than mildew....... Vinegar, especially once it's diluted in 100 gallons of tub water, is no match for stuff growing inside the hot tub jets.
I have tried all of that stuff over and over and over and nothing is changing.
