Is it possible to get the flu even if I had the flu shot?

If so should I call my Dr or do we still just let it run its course ?
I had an Orencia infusion this morning but wasn't having symptoms at the time. they came on this afternoon. I also take Arava.
I haven't been sick in years....
are you running a fever? In short...yes it is.  You could have gotten lucky and picked up one of the strains that wasn't included in this years vaccine.  There are only three strains in the vaccine and one I believe has mutated and is resistant to Tamiflu the popular antiviral treatment that is sometimes used to shorten the course of the flu.

Other than that babs is probably right....no fever you should be ok.  I'd still call the docs office to be safe.

Bob is right and so is Babs.  My doc told me even though I had the shot, if I had been exposed to the flu right before the shot, I could get the flu within that 2 week period after the shot.  Also, if someone in your household comes down with the flu even after you got the shot and it has reached max immunity level, you may still get the flu.

Here's hoping it is not the flu!

On a more positive note, even if you have had the misfortune of catching the flu bug, it's likely to be less severe due to the vaccination.  A mild annoyance instead of a full-fledged assault. Hope you feel better soon! I've had flu like symptoms since mid November.
Over the past month it has got to a full on flu and I can't shake it.
I do have a flu shot every year.

My partner has just come down with the same thing.
It's a real nasty bug.
