Howdy and Hello,

I am new here. I have been reading for a few days, and decided I would join. Everyone seems so nice, and it appears there is a diverse group of people. I hope to get to know everyone, I love making friends. I have had a DX for about 6 weeks, I have started on plaquenil, pain medication. and have taken a predisone pack.

My hands , feet and knees are swollen and hurt like the dickens. My blood work was all whacked. I have good doctors, and a wonderful husband and Grown children.

It is Cold in Canada as well in my neck of the woods. I hate the cold weather I can not wait until better weather. when DH gets to retire, I am going to be one of those snowbirds and go to Florida.

Well, hello and welcome. I am fairly new also. I am sorry for your new diagnosis. It sounds like the docs are treating it aggressively right off the bat. A loving supportive family is always nice.

What I like about here is there is always someone who can relate to what you are going through and I always have someone to talk to. There are some naturally funny bones who keep us laughing and there are informers who keep us informed on the latest research. Never a dull moment. Loads of info.

Of course we all have different ways of communicating, different therapies we are trying and different ways of coping but that's okay. no 2 people are ever going to be the exact same anyway unless they are clones.:)

but anyway, i hope the meds kick in and you start to feel better soon.

It feels good not to be the "NEW KID" anymore.I live in very cold Indiana. Thanks for the WARM response. I feel like the cold makes everything more stiff and painful. I have a few logs on the wood burner, that is the only thing I like about the cold winters is the smell of the wood burner, makes you feel cozy everything else about the cold is a complete negative for me.

I hope the medicine helps also. The predisone pack helped some. I ate a lot better. My appetite was next to nothing, but has improved some. I go to my doctor next month. He seemed to think I should be feeling better the next time I see him. I hope so. Thanks again.
