Has anyone seen the news on the Plane crash into the Hudson River . Its looks as if all the passengers survived. I normally listen to the news in my car but missed it today, so I have just seen it on the computer. It must have been terrible for the passengers and crew. It has been snowing in NY so the Hudson must have been freezingIt is on the Current events thread.  I have had the CNN live feed on... that pilot must be amazing (and co-pilot).  They deserve awards!!! THe pilot, the crew, all the responders were terrific.  They may have a parade for the pilot!!!  Would be nice.I watched Dateline last night. They did a program about the crash. A pilot said there were pilots cheering all over the world, because of the difficulty of the landing and the expertise the pilot showed. A parade would be nice.

I heard the pilot was a marine pilot... the wife said he's a pilot's pilot.. they all know how difficult taht landing was... andhe pulled it off w/out losing anyone and not even breaking the plane.........  landed rear down first.......that's how he laid it right on the river........  remarkable!!Yes, remarkable.  THe wife and 2 daughters seem very nice.  Scary for them also.We need a hero and from the stories it sounds as if he's one.  LindyYes, totally amazing. I guess the pilot is a military pilot as well as holding two masters degrees.

I know where this is!!  It's about 50 blocks away from where West Side Park is..... where I bought my Irish Wolfie....  I ate dinner at an open cafe one summer overlooking the Hudson........  can you imagine being at the park walking your dog and seeing this?? WOW...

Had a friend who lived at 75th and West Side Drive and my breeder was at 101st..It landed closer to where all the big Navy ships are... but it would have come right by where we had eaten...... (not in frigid weather of course)  ......  funny.
babs102009-01-17 12:40:29Did I hear correctly that they are going to honor the pilot with a key to the city?  I just caught the end of the broadcast.  Anyone know?Don't know.  I heard he will be on the Today Show tomorrow morning. The news about that plane landing in water was flashed around the world so quickly - via phone emails, Facebook etc - it has been big news in Australia and there have been mentions of it each day in our TV news.  I bet airlines and pilots are studying the photos closely to learn just the right way to do it!  a miracle that he could land in river and not harm buildings and people in the city area.  It is wonderful to see a  piece of good news in the media for a change!!

Yes, it is a wonderful story.

Haven't heard more about a parade.  Maybe later.
Still wondering about reward for the pilot.  Will research tomorrow.I heard this morning that there is a billboard up in N.Y. near the crash site honoring the pilot and crew, put up by Kenneth Cole.

I also heard there will be a parade in the pilot's hometown, Danville, CA on Saturday.  Go Danville!!!!
The parade in Danville is tomorrow.
