I am curious what everyone does to deal with stiff joints. I find if I move around, although very painful it helps. But as soon as I sit down at the computer or in my chair and go to  get up it is like I havent moved all day. It seems like it never lets up. any tips?

My best tip is to keep moving, I know it sounds trite but it's the best thing you can do.  Stiffness has always been a large part of the disease process for me.  At my worst every joint was stiff, I couldn't walk or stand and now even though I'm in clinical remission I have stiffness from damage.

Hot baths, showers, and sometimes alternating hot and cold packs help.  I change my leg postions if I know I'm going to be sitting for a long period of time.  Lindy
Hot tub, sauna, heated blanket, warm clothes - and keep moving!!!
Hot showers do help. My skin is getting dry from so many showers and the cold weather. We have electric heat pump because we have an all electric home, so the air is very drying. I use lotion like crazy. I swear I am addicted to lotion on my hands, I rub my sore joints even though they hurt it still gives me a strange comfort. So far the heating pad has become a good friend,  that and some mild stretching exercises.  I am to begin PT soon, I am hoping that will help as well.   I wish there was a magic pill, bullet, wand,  etc...
Have not found it yet though.

p.s.  great name!!!

Seriously though, just keep moving.  My rheumatologist once told me, if you don't move...you won't move.  How true.

I find the only thing that helps me is to keep moving when I'm stiff.

I had knee surgery last year and discovered these hot and cold gel packs (at Walgreens, CVS) during my recovery. I only used them cold post-op, but I recently discovered that nuking them for about 60 seconds makes for a nice comfort when my joints are really painful or stiff. Thanks everyone.Tonight I am miserable.I can hardly move my hands. Thumbs and wrist hurt so very badly. I wonder why I feel so much worse? Wanted everyone to know I appreciate this. Going to bed in a few minutes, wanted to say thanks so much.
