I don't get it.They're trying to figure out, by going thru our claims, if the meds cause our issues or if the disease does. It looked to me like they're using the 'score' to determine if we're really sick.

Well, sh*t, we all know there's something wrong with us. LOL Seems they're looking for excuses as to why.
Bloody unbelievable, as if we don't have enough trouble with people not believing we are sick, we have to even tolerate it from the authorities! My girlfriend has RA also and when we got denied the biologics the first time as the Govt decided we did not fully satisfy the criteria, we decided we would go and chain ourselves on to the front entrance railings of Parliament House in Canberra and not take our medicines so that they could see how sick we were!!!!!
the ultimate goal of a study like that is to get a real world view of the effects of RA. These aren't patient reports of severity or drs notes it is what disease show up as companions to RA. Using the VA makes a study like this fairly easy as all their records are electronic.
realistically it is one way to see what is occuring in the real world of RA however a population consisting of 91% men and average age of 70 is not exactly your typical RA population,
