enbrel and curly hair | Arthritis Information

hi I took enbrel for a few months and I have always had smooth hair and now I have curly frizzy hair has anyone else noticed anything like this?I had curly hair when I was a little girl, then it went straight, unless it was really humid outside. I started taking Enbrel 3 years ago(for a couple months) and am now on Remicade and my hair has gotten real curly again, so much so, people who have known me for a long time ask if I got a permanent. Even the remicade nurse asked me about it. I haven't heard that the TNF's cause curly hair, but I'm not complaining, it makes it look like I have thicker hair.I would wish!!!  MTX thinned mine.. so it's nice and short now which is so much easier... but curly would be great!!its not a great curly i wish it is a frizzy curly i have been off of enbrel for over a year and still have to use straightening iron to controlHI Rhiannon, so I am not the only one with this problem, I blame the MTX, my hair was dead straight and my sisters envied it, they had lucious wavy hair, now if I get mine cut short, you would swear it was permed, and long, it is so frizzy and wavy, can't seem to do much with it.  So maybe its the Dmards in general.  I have lost a fair bit of hair too on the MTX, and what does grow seems to be wavy, frizzy and grey/white.  HUgs Janie.I have heard of that with chemo patients. My step mother has straight hair and when it grew back it was curly as could be. Try Folic Acid.  :-)

My permed hair has not gotten curlier, but it is definitely more damaged now, not so much from the Enbrel, but I really noticed it with the Rituxan.  I might chalk some of it up to reaching an age where the texture of your hair starts to change, but it was pretty sudden after I got my one round of Rituxan infusions.  It did not seem to improve in all the months I waited to go onto Orencia and the time I've been taking the Orencia.

Pip, that's a good suggestion about the folic acid, which I haven't taken (aside from my B complex) since I stopped mtx long ago.  I also found that John Frieda's Frizz-Ease Rebuild micro-oil treatment once a week really helped, if only I could find it in stores (I can't even find it on their website, so I hope it's not discontinued).
thanks everyone for your replies and suggestions
