My skin hurts. Feels like it is sunburned. I can't get clothes next to my skin. Has anyone ever had this before?

Is it cold where you live? Wind burn?

Hope you feel better soon

Tink
Have you been out in the wind and cold? Sometimes in the winter I get a wind burn. Skin turns red and burns. Try taking a lukewarm bath. Have you tried any new detergents or soaps, or do you have new clothes on?
Could be lots of things. Just trying to narrow it down.
I hope it calms down.
it could be a lot of things..do you have any other symptoms.  A couple of things come to mind an allergic reaction or possible shingles.   The sensation you describe could also be a stress/anxiety symptomHey CinDee, Great minds think alike is what I always say.
Good call on detergents and soaps. Didn't think of that.

yeah and pince, poke you owe me a coke. We posted at the same time. I have lots of allergies to lots of stuff and any soap or detergent that has a floral scent of additive I break out in hives big time. Maybe try a couple of bendryl and see if that helps. If it does then you'll know it's something you are probably allergic too.

My skin hurt when I was PRA.  It was soooo bad I couldn't let a sheet stay on me.  It's one of the reasons they thought 'gout' for a while.  No gout tho.  Then they said it was 'unusual' for RA but I've since seen posts on it.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Lorster, I don't know what it is but I hope you feel better soon. How is your skin? Hope it is better.

it is worse. my skin is all sore and burned feeling on my entire right arm into my back over my scapula. i have had shingle in this area before but i wonder if this is what it is. one doctor told me you cannot get shingles twice and another told me you can. anyone know?Lorster,

That's exactly what my shingles felt like.  My doctor told me I COULD get shingles again.  It sounds to me like you definitely have it again.

I know people who get shingles over and over. Same area.
I am so sorry for you. I would try to get a accurate diagnosis. Shingles are very painful from what I understand. I will look it up.

My mom had shingles once.  It was discovered early though, and whatever they gave her kept them from getting too bad.  It was painful for her, but not nearly the excrucaiting pain that most people get when they have shingles.  So get it looked at asap. Lorster.  Maybe you can avoid the worst of it. If it's even shingles, that is.Yep, everything I read says that shingles can and do come back. Google it.
Not sure why your Doctor told you that. I hope it's not shingles. Take care.

ok, my next question. My original shingles were in the dermatome just below my ribs on my back. The pain is on the same side, but higher up and involves my arm, arm pit and scapula area. Doesn't it usually stay along the same dermatome?

Derma what????

Sorry you lost me. lol.

Lorster, before you said that it was limited to a certain area, my first thought was fibromyalgia sensitivity.  Hopefully that's not it.

what is that innerglow?

Ok got it. I would think going to the Doctor would be your best bet. I know I would. I hope the best for you.

Maybe you have more than one nerve area infiltrated with the virus?
sounds like when I got shingles.. [QUOTE=JasmineRain]

The way I understand shingles, and I may be entirely off base but doesn't it act alot like the herpes virus where it resides in the nerve root and occasionally awakens and moves to the surface of the skin. And like herpes one and two, the one only is above the umbilicus bacause it lives on that nerve that innervates the face and two lives on the nerve root that innervates the genitals. Of course I don't understand why you cannot get herpes somewhere between the lips and the navel. Or can you? I thought the varicella zoster lived on a nerve root and moves along that nerve that innervates a specific dermatome. Am I wrong here or not understanding shingles? So could I have more than one shingles virus?Lorster,
Maybe it's a reaction to the moxxor? Who knows what is in it. Who knows how it is made. Who knows in what kind of unsanitary child labor camp it's made. Oh yeah, some advertising thief that is involved in a marketing pyramid scheme said it was good for rheumatoid arthritis and to an intelligent person like yourself, that's good enough. Doctors and scientists are stupid paid off crooks but c'mon, if you can't trust a pyramid marketing scheme salesman to prescribe medicines, who can you trust.

I hope you don't mind that I combine my reply not only to this thread here but also a reply to the original thread by the spammer for the cure all where you defended him against the "spam police". Have you ever looked to the left of this page? There are paid sponsors claiming to have cures and alternatives for rheumatoid arthritis. What about those products? Do you feel that you can't believe them because they are actually legal sponsers, therefore they can't be trusted?

In the original thread from the "spammer" you once again called fda approved drugs as "poison" and "rat poison". Many times in your posts you say that you dispense poison to your patients every day. So many times you have written that your doctors "over medicate" your patients. So many times you have written about your great trait of standing up for what you believe and so you constantly brag about marching in the "anti-war" march that made no difference except to clog the roads, make people late for appointments and to their jobs. What a stand-up person you are. Let me just ask you this. How can you take money to pass out poison to patients? How can you work somewhere where doctors over medicate the patients? You couldn't pay me enough money to pass out poison to people. You couldn't pay me enough to work somewhere that I knew doctors were overmedicating patients. Let's see what you are really made of. Make your picket sign and picket your hospital. You can even add "stop the war" to your sign, but be sure to put "quit poisoning and over medicating human beings". Go to the newspapers and agencies. Talk is so very cheap, isn't it?.

I'm actually not going to waste my time on you today Lev.lorster2009-01-17 16:43:06Lorster,
How is your skin? I hope it is better. Did you call your Doctor?

Tink
No, it is still bad but no lesions. I keep checking. If it is worse, I will call tomorrow. The pain has congregated in my right scapula. I can hardly touch it. Is it possible to have arthritis in the scapula? I am sorry. I do not know if you can have RA in the scapula. I believe you can have it in any joint. I don't think the scapula is a joint. I'll look it up. Does your RA make your skin hurt?
My joints are hurting so bad tonight, I could jump out of my skin, but my skin doesn't hurt.
brb,
Tink
scapula is not a joint. But it connects to other bones to make the shoulder , so it could be in the shoulder. Wonder why skin would hurt. How long does it take to get the blisters in shingles?from the sounds of it I too would say Shingles.  Go the the Dr and get some pred to take and use calamine lotion to calm the skin.  The blisters might take a couple of days to show up.it took about a week  -10 days from the first  skin  pain to developing the lesions. it really does sound like shingles. The skin feels better today but my scapula is very sore, cannot hardly put any pressure on it. I have never had this before and I do not recall injuring it but I do a lot of pulling people up in bed so maybe I have injured the shoulder and now the pain is being referred to the scapula. I also have some erosions to my cervical disks so I wonder if that is playing a part in the nerve pain.I am feeling for you Lor.........  nerve pain is the worst!!

Nerve pain is weird. I can see why people take Lyrica.Hi Lorster, I definitely get pain in the scapula, not all the time, but when I do, it is very painful.  My GP says there are so many things going on in my body with RA, OA,OP,FM, DDD, that she thinks my muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves are all affected in some way.  I believe it as I don't know anyone apart form people on here that suffer so much pain in strange places!  Strange thing is I did have shingles in that area just prior to being diagnosed in 2000!!!!!  Hope it is feeling better by now. Hugs Janie.   The skin on my hands hurt and are very sensitive right before a wrist or knuckle flare.  I can't bear to grab onto anything or twist open a jar lid or doorknob.  It's a combination of hurting and feeling like they are on fire.  Horrible feeling.  I've also had that feeling on the skin of my legs, but not as often. My goodness Lorster this sure has been going on for awhile. I didn't respond before because I have no experience with shingles or any other reason you may be feeling like this. Sure hope you feel better soon! ms Shingles here LOL

if it is shingles my only relief from nerve pain came from Silver Salve and Shingles Rescue.
they are items from health food store or even amazon.com

Pain patches, nuerontin, caspine, novacane and cortisone shots  did not work.

I stil have nerve pain in my collarbone.

They say 50% of people do not get shingles outbreak again.

Sorry your hurting and hope you get relief. :)
