I am doing some genealogy ......  and this is where one of my familial lines has taken me.....

is there anyone who is near there?  or knows of this town?

My family came over to the US in 1865 the first time... then went back there...and came again in a few years.......

I think it would be great to see if I still have relatives there.......

if you are reading this and not a member... you may email me at  babs2sully@yahoo.com

thanks!!
babs102009-01-19 10:12:09I love doing genealogy...my trip across the ocean will be Ireland and Germany or Holland but right now I have enough in the States to keep me busy.  My father who never spoke of his fathers family turns out to have quite a few relatives floating out there.  I've made contact with several cousins through genealogy

Mr. P-

THanks for the site.  Yes, it is amazing what people have and I LOVE antiques.
I have seen two of my antiques ON the Roadshow!!

One is a sketch of a baby lying head on a pillow w/ a blanket up... all in beautiful pastels.... that is in great shape....and a photograph (they were black and white photos and hand painted in colors on the flowers....  That pic is not in as good shape as what they had...

anyway....
genealogy! I've been having a blast!!  I was sick yesterday so I played on ancesters.com....I found LOADS of info on all four corners of my ancestry.  very cool.

Babs-  Wow.  Your antiques on the Road Show!!  Cool.

I can't remember the artist and photographers' names... but I can look when I get home..

It floored me! seriously.
road show is great, I e-mailed a picture of a 1820 ivory elephant necklace that I thought would be worth a fortune and they were kind enough to response but it was not worth much sadly. I think it is a cool necklace with little carved elephants.Babs-  Get the names!

mabus-  You never know!!!  Some people have things they think are of little value and find they are very valuable.  Surprize!
I know, well I was shocked about valve of late 1800 european cut diamond ring I inherited.
It appears to be big collectors item.

I didn't know you could email them stuff... heck... I've got lots of antiques... some dishes... some furniture.. some old but only "worthy" to me for sentimental reasons....

mabus.. I would bet that the value is reduced because it is considered not in good taste to kill elephants for their tusks (I know you didn't do it  Speaking of England, I saw the BBC World Edition on pbs recently.  Good coverage.I'm glad this was bumped up.. It forced me to go look at the one artist I described above.

Bessie Pease Gutmann...... Here is a link to the print that I own one of a numbered original  in the original frame -- this is the lesser valued of my collectible prints .. it's the other "colored" photograph is higher priced.

I cannot get to the other.. I feel like crap w/ this cold and I believe it's in the basement.
Babs-

That is a gorgeous painting!!!!  Really beautiful child.
thanks! it was given to my grandmother when my mom was born..  1934.

Babs did you find out anymore about your family

I saw the BBC Antique Road Show again last night.  GOod.  And then the American Road Show from Dallas.  I have cousins in Texas so it was interesting to see the things the Texas people had.
