spinal cord stimulator | Arthritis Information

I had back surgery a year ago,  lumbar fusion.  It has not helped with my back pain, if anything it made things worse because it caused perm. nerve damage in one of my legs (I did not have nerve pain prior to surgery).  Anyhow, one of the pain management ideas they have come up with is Spinal Cord Stimulator.  Has anyone heard of this and I was wondering if it could/would help with the pain associated with RA?

I was recently given a referral for one because of my herniated lumbar discs (also have cervical), however I won't be pursuing it for a couple of reasons.  First, since my nerve pain started, I have not been able to tolerate electrical stim even on my skin.  Second, I am concerned about possible infection with the immunosuppressants I'm on.  That being said, I don't know a whole lot about the device.  Sorry I can't be of more help.
