50 dollars for 56 miles!! Caregivers~ | Arthritis Information

Share

hi, does anyone else have a caregiver / provider?

I'm moving to Nc and also wondering if anyone knows about their system.
Its really really hard, to find good people!
I had 2 last yr, and the last one, just strung me along for over 2 wks and didn't show up.. grrr.... and now i have another one.
Really good, i like her and she seems to find me funny, lol, always glad to entertain!
One big thing, is she actually gets from someone 50.
$$ FIFTY DOLLARS.. for a total of 56 miles..
i refuse to pay  that, i give her 7 bucks and to me thats fair.
I base it on 20 mpg average (she has a honda!)
and gas here is still below 2 bucks..so I try and be really fair, but anyone else find it absolutely outrageous that she "expects" 50 bucks or that someone actually pays that!!
Craziness, but she is a really good person and I do like her a lot. :)

I'm also having trouble finding forums: for caregivers and patients..
Any suggestions?

Plus, those in bad shape,
1).. any reason you don't have a provider? or trouble w/ state getting one?

I'd love to talk to more people who have them ;)

Blessings

I know when you are on business time, and you use your car, the government sets the rate of reiumbursement.  There is no negotiation, it's 50.5 cents per mile.  It's not fair for someone to figure out the gas mileage due to the kind of car they drive, etc., as it is their car and it use wear and tear on their car, etc.   So, do the math 50.5 cents per mile X 56 and you'll have your answer what you are supposed to pay.  (I'm assuming this 56 miles is round trip?)

I second that - I sometimes have to use my car for business trips and the reimbursement is 50.5 cents/mile.  This goes to cover not only gasoline, but also routine maintenance such as tune-ups, oil changes, brakes, other miscellaneous repairs, depreciation, car insurance, etc...

Whispered - have you ever owned a car?  Do you have any idea of the costs involved?
in 2009 the reimbursement  for mileage is 55 cents per mile
in 2009 the reimbursement  for mileage is 55 cents per mile
I just got that notification from my employer - .55 mile.

Last year, it was .585.

The mileage reim. covers gas and wear and tear, but many jobs that require travel also pay for travel time (mine does).  Maybe that is how she arrives at that total for 56 miles?

Good point - it could be about or so for the mileage, and the other for the hourly rate.  Sounds reasonable to me.

Ooops, I didn't realize it went up as of July 1....looks like I screwed myself, lol.

You're right, it's 55 cents a mile for 2009.  I'll have to keep checking back to be sure
it stays the same for the year.
I don't know- but it was good to hear from you Whispered- you've been gone a long time. How are you?
