OT- New President. What time to help USA? | Arthritis Information

YOu can't really put enough information in a subject on here...

but the question is:

How much time will it take (In your humble opinions) for President Obama to get this country  righted?  to pull us out of the economic and financial messes?  Bring our troops home?  save our industries?  Ecologize our country? provide healthcare? etc......

What is a reasonable time frame to expect definite progress that is documentable?
You mean follow through on his promises?... I'd sure like to know...MY opinion is - that trillion dollar jump start isn't going to work and we're going to get worse.

I think the WPA type projects and the health care will tide people over.

2 years for health care reform and a national system.

Pip
Hi Pip!

I agree. The trillion is going to go in all the wrong places and we'll be worse off.
2 years? Interesting... You know Rahm Emanuel refused to give any kind of timetable of when he thought people would expect some results...
that makes three of us about the economic recovery...  all wrong.. in a million different ways....

I do not think that a reformed healthcare plan will be in place in two years...  and national?  maybe never.  That  may not be his fault.. but the Congress and their wanna's

so..what about the other items of discussion?    secure our borders/illegal immigrants, corruption in the government...  Gitmo as mentioned on another thread... get us energy solvent... etc.?

Babs, my opinion? Most ObamaManiacs, won't want to put a timetable to it. Easier to be vague.... Like a lot of his promises and/or how some of his team is already toning down expectations...knowing you're more realistic in your expectations than most.. I understand..

but. even I can see that potentially, things could be greatly improved in two years...  economic turn around can happen quickly w/the right motivations.......
Agreed about the economy. But he made a lot more promises than just that... Though of course, the media wil start painting everything in a rosy color. After all, Obama is in office, the world is already a better place... Heh...Come back to this post in a year...I think we will all be pleasantly surprised...if our government changes for the best too then it will help the economy all over
hmmm... time will tell about the media...... I've seen it spin it's opinion on a dime...

Barry.. like a time capsule, eh?

he implied he wants 8 yrs.....
he implied he wants 8 yrs.....
IF I may.. I'd like to quote Jose (how to do the accent has escaped me.. anyone?)

but, anyway, as Jose says:

heh
You mean follow through on his promises?... I'd sure like to know...
Jose, I watched every campaign speech, every debate, the nightly news on several different sources. I heard the same thing coming from John McCains mouth, the same exact promises. If it would have been him elected, would you have responded the same? Be honest.I am not Jose...
but since this is a public forum and just anyone can post..

I would have expected the same from McCain that I expect from Obama  ... the same thing I'd expect from you, Lorster    .... their best.

but that's not the question........ is it?

Honestly, I'm 32 and I don't think the economy will be "fixed" again in my lifetime.  I'll probably get it for that one...but it's my opinion.  And I voted for Obama....wished it would have been Hillary though...but Obama could do a good job as well.  Only time will tell.

Lorster, Absolutely. I would expect anyone who makes definite promises to follow through.... I hate national elections for all the unrealistic promises and the people that buy them no matter how ridiculous... I'll have to take your word for the McCain promises. I didn't listen to every speech...
Without question the people involved in the financial woes, which are having a negative impact on our economy, are real low-lifes.
However, there is a large segment of our society that is responsible for their personal financial issues.
We are a couple of older people who were taught not to live beyond our means; taught the importance of saving, even if meant only being to put away five or ten dollars a month;  that everyone has the right to pursue happiness but not at the expense of someone else; and we never expected to make money without putting in an honest days work and not to be concerned about whether the person next to you was.

Raising a family has always been a challenge for every generation but our children were taught that just because they wanted something didn't entitle them to it. A lesson they've carried with them in their adult life and raising our grandchildren.

Amen Wolf, if more people taught their kids those lessons, we wouldn't be in the trouble we're in... here's to those values, watching.....  if only more carried that through the generations.THe Main Stream Media is FIRMLY biased.
