How long does it take? | Arthritis Information

Had to go off of all meds for 4 weeks and I'm in the flair from hell.  I've had 2 doses of my MTX now, and 2 doses of Enbrel.....how long do you think that I should be back to my normal self (normal post RA, lol)Hi Deb, I am sorry to hear this, I think in my experience at least with MTX, it really kicks in about week 6, not sure about Enbrel though.  Good luck, Janie.  Take some pain relief and rest when you can, you know this will improve, so pamper yourself for a while if you can.  I hear ya Deb. I was off the MTX for 3 weeks and went into a flare. Then I took it for 2 weeks and did not feel better. Then I had to go off last week again. I took it Tuesday and I am still in a flare. This is my first one so I have no idea but I hope it's soon.Hey Deb, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but my dr. said it could take up to 3 months to get the full benefit of Enbrel (though when I was on it, I felt pretty decent in about 4 weeks).  I hope you feel better soon.  Could you possibly have a secondary thing like fibromyalgia?  It took me a while to determine the difference between the ra flare and the fibro flare.  Fibro can make you feel like you have been hit by a truck too.

Feel better soon, please?
Waddie - no fibro....I'm stiff and not bending at all, very swollen hands and I'm tired.  I was like this before my meds, but the MTX and Enbrel helped it.  Because I had to be off of it for a month, I slid back into not moving.  I was just wondering how long it took once you started to retake your meds it would take to get back to normal. It usually took me about 3-4 doses (weeks) before I felt "normal", though I know it can take longer.  I wonder if you could get a decreasing pred pack to help.  I don't like the stuff, but if it will get me over the hump, I will take it short term.  Hopefully, you are almost there.

Best to you!  Thanks.  Off to Boston to the rheumie today.
