The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) oversees the activities of the U.S. Food and Drug Agency (FDA). Which brings into question as to why our nation is on edge because of the recent salmonella food poisoning in foods containing peanut butter. Am certain we are all aware of what this all about so am not going to pursue this point any further.
However, now all the responsibility/blame is being placed on the company producing the peanut butter paste containing salmonella. For sure this company shouldn't be let off the hook BUT NEITHER SHOULD THE "HHS OR THE FDA." If these agencies had being doing their job and not looked the other way or given this company passes the salmonella issue wouldn't have happened.
No matter which party controls the Congress do you ever see any penalties stated if a law or regulation is violated when legislation is passed? NOT! Therein lies the basic problem to most legislation passed by our Congress - no matter what the issue.
