APPENDIX ADVICE PLEASE | Arthritis Information

My daughter was rushed into hospital on Monday night and had her appendix removed, it hadnt burst , just inflammed. We are home now but her stomach ( upper stomach) is very sore and swollen. she has been to the toilet so we know its not constipation. Also she has been needing to urinate every 8 to 10 minutes through out the day and 3 or four times during the night. Shes not drinking a great deal.  Has anyone else had experience with appendix.I had my appendix out, but don't recall having this go on.  I'd call your doctor to see what he/she has to say...just so you won't be worrying.

Hope she's feeling better soon.
Sounds like a UTI to me. Was she catherized during the procedure? No catherization at all, she had the urination problem beore the appendix was removed and the surgeon said it was due to the appendix irritating the bladderAsk the doctor if she can take some Uristat (phenazopyridine).  Here in the USA it is available over-the-counter; I don't know how it's sold in the UK.  It's a urinary tract analgesic.  I can tell you from personal experience it works great!

Hope she's feeling better soon!

Thanks to eveyone...Jas i will ask about the uristat..i have heard of it.Man you sure have had some hospital time lately Lisa!

I hope all goes well for your daughter, once was a time you would be kept in hospital in that condition. As others have said, call the Doc if you are worried about anything.

Hugs to all of you......Lyn
When she had surgery and imediatly after she was probably on IV  meds.. thats a ton of liquids being pumped in.

I'd get the uristat, and some  cranberry juice. if shes not better soon, call the dr.

Not sure if I am responding to Mr or Ms Pincushion, however IF your daughter suffered from the symptoms BEFORE the surgical procedure it only makes sense to contact her physician and describe, in detail, the continuing discomfort your daughter is experiencing.

How is your daughter today?  I hope she is feeling much better and you all had a good night! Many thanks for all the good wishes for my daughter, she is recovering nicely now, The swelling and pain seem to go away by itself and she isnt needing the toilet so much now. She had her stitches checked yesterday and they are looking good. The school breaks up for half term next week so she wont be missing out on too much work by just having this week off. Also we have had a huge snow fall so its nice to be at home.
