How is Liam? | Arthritis Information

I have been thinking about him today and wondering if he is any better? Hi Waddie, how kind you are?  After his bad night on Thursday, he awoke with knee, spine and heel pain again and said he couldn't go to school like that.  Hubby and I tried to explain to him that school would take his mind off of the pain and he would be happy with all of his friends, he still argued that he couldn't go, so I gave him Brekky and Nurofen and let him watch cartoons until it was time to leave. (TV is usually a no-no on school day mornings!)

Thankfully he made it thru the day with a promose of being allowed to watch the wrestling when he got home if he made the whole day.

Surprisingly he wasn't in pain when he got home and didn't need any pain relief last night!!!  I am still praying it will disappear as quickly as it arrived.  Thanks again Waddles, much appreciated.
We all know this disease though, here one minute gone the next  frustrating to say the least.
Janie,

So glad to hear Liam is doing better. It must be hard to be the tough mom and send him off to school, but I totally agree with you. Work really helps keep my mind off of it and I'm sure it's even more true of school/friends for kids. I hope he (and you) continue to get better. As hard as it is to go through it yourself, I could only imagine watching my child go through this pain would be sheer torture.

Mo
Hi Mo, you are right, it is torture making him go to school but I know it is the best thing for him, I feel so bad though when I have to go back to bed because of the pain/immobility, and I send him to school, I am still hopeful that it will go away!  Thanks againMo, from Janie.
You did the right thing janie- I know it must be hard. Your heart just goes out to your child when you know they don't feel good. You just want to scoop them up in your arms and make it all better. Hi Guys, Liam flared again Sunday and could not go to school Monday am, he had widespread joint pain and his poor eyes looked so painful.  So I phoned his Paed RD and was told to take him to GP to be assessed and then for her to call him.  She called him while I was there and told him Liam had lots of tender areas after Nurofen, including a swollen ankle and knee and visibly sore eyes.  He recommended Liam to go back on the pred at 5mg, Nurofen when needed, and to see the eye specialist, I managed to get him in straight away to eye Dr, he said episcleritis was the problem again, prescribed Patanol and said the pred will probably fix it up again anyhow.  He has a week off of school, seems a lot better already but we all know pred is just a mask, his appt with RD is 18th Feb, I guess MTX will be started, unfortunately.  Thanks for listening, Janie. Poor Liam!  The little guy just can not get a break!  I know the MTX has its share of issues, but maybe it will be strong enough to put a stop to this and give him some ease.  What a lucky guy he is to have a strong mom like you!  Please let him know he has folks waaaaay on the other side of the world thinking about him and sending him healing energy and powerful positive thoughts!!!
Thanks again Waddie.  HUGS Janie
