OT--TSH/Levoxyl | Arthritis Information

Long story short: had horribly inflammed thyroid last fall, all antibodies negative, TSH was normal, and T4 never tested.  Had two uptakes, one was above normal, the other high normal, but neither super high.  My endocrinologist was super concerned with how tender it was on exam.  Decided to put me on 75 mg of Levoxyl to "turn off" my thyroid and let it rest.  6 weeks later (last week) I had my TSH tested.  Found out yesterday that my TSH is .03 and I was told to stop taking Levoxyl until I see my doctor at appointment scheduled for Friday.

My thyroid is still tender and a nodule that previously didn't get flagged on uptake scans, etc. seems to have gotten bigger and is painful.  Was previously only .8 cm across but now I can definitely feel it.  Maybe it's still the same size and I'm just aware now.

Anyway, I had already scheduled second opinion at Vandy on Thursday, when I'm there for rheum (by the way and on topic, I can't really tell much difference on Arava so far, except my stomach is awful in terms of bloating/gassiness, but I know that's the Plaq, which I want to stop).

I haven't lost weight, etc. with (apparently) having thyrotoxicosis, but I do feel anxious and have had depression.  I switched my birth control to OrthoTriCyclin b/c I was so trying to work thorugh this, knowing my thyroid is crazy but not even being able to tell which way.  I definitely am not sensitive to heat.

Okay, sorry for rambling.  Have been so busy with work this week that I don't even have time to research or think about it so it's good I'm getting a second opinion.
Katie, I had some concerns before about them not doing certain tests and I'm pleased you're getting a second opinion.  That's the best thing you can do for yourself right now.  Keep us posted and take care.  Lindy

Much hugs to you.

Please keep us posted! Been wondering about you. Seriously, I have been out of it recently, and it's just good to have an excuse this time!  Hi Katie,

I was wondering how you were doing and I was just about to post a "where's Katie been" thread.  Anyway, good luck with your second opinion and please keep us posted on what the endo says.  Hiking_gal
